Great little chipper from fringe area.

These chippers are used in a similar way to a putter, to get your ball from the outside edge of the green nearer to the hole. Swing as you would a putter, but a little bit harder which will lift the ball up and over towards the hole. This takes a bit of practice. If you are in the rough near the green, you will be better using a pitch or sand wedge.I find this to be quite useful if the green undulates around the hole and I think my putt will go in a different direction to the one I want it to go in. Do not get to rely on it though, if you join a club they will not let you use one in matches.Update: I have since given this club away as I found it was better, and more accurate, to learn chip shots using my wedges.

When this chipper arrived it seemed very difficult to get a ball in the air , found later that the head was bent and basically de lofted the club, I fixed this in a vice but have now purchased a mazel chipper which I find so much easier to use.

Does the job

I got two of these chippers for use by the family with a couple of chipping nets and practice golf balls. As we have left and right handlers in the family it was ideal for use by either as they are nicely weighted, look good and swings both ways. The price was really good and I could not see much difference between these and the vastly more costly professional chippers we have previously purchased from sports shops.

The shaft must be poor as the putter doesn’t feel right and the ball does come off the face as I expected.
