Fun construction kit - complicated enough to be interesting
Very popular with my son - the fun of the toy is, I think, mostly in the making, but even given that it was well worth the price for the entertainment value. My son (who is 7 but very good with construction kits) was able to build this with minimal adult help in about 3-4 hours.

Good STEM toy but don’t expect the novelty to last
I built this with my 11yo daughter. She could not have done it on her own. The instructions are clear but nuanced and detailed. She was so proud and played with it initially but the novelty soon wore off within a week. However I would say it was good value and educational.

An excellent and interesting little learning toy for kids
This was a lot of fun to put together for my son (10). he enjoyed the whole process of building something, and making it work. I've recommended it a few times to other friends, and they've been similarly impressed. It's a sturdy little unit, works better on some surfaces than others and it kept him well entertained. I think if it was for much younger kids then there's not enough variety in what it does once built to keep them entertained, but I would recommend. This was for my 10 year old son, and he found it just right in challenge and in terms of build process.

Good little robot in the end but tears along the way
My six year old saw the video and fell in love. I knew she’d need help but it actually was way too complicated and fiddly for my 8 or even 12 year to assemble without considerable help. Also one of the wire connectors came off (luckily we were able to borrow a soldering iron). Then at first it didn’t work. We checked the batteries and they seemed to be inserted correctly and were new, but it must be very particular as it wasn’t until I took them all out and reinserted them the next day in desperation as our daughter was so disappointed that it actually worked (we really thought it faulty)! Anyhow, all working now and it was a good educational family lockdown project that the kids found entertaining (once it worked!) for awhile... but we had a lot of tears along the way!

Brilliant building project
Bought for my 9yr old daughter. Was built with the help of her dad, I’m not sure if children would be able to build this by themselves with no help. Took around 2-3hrs and seems to all be working well! The video shows Tobbie in discovery mode where he just walks around exploring. Also has a mode where he will follow you if you put your hand in front of him and another mode where he will back away from your hand being in front of him. Daughter is so pleased with it. Is noisy but that doesn’t bother us and I can imagine it draining batteries quite quickly but haven’t used it for long enough to know how quickly! Those in the reviews where it is not working I think it’s going to be down to the build process. It’s a long process and requires a lot of accuracy and attention to detail to get it right.

We couldn't get it to work
Bought as a santa sack gift for my 11 year old. He struggled to construct this. It was eventually built (and rebuilt) by 2 different adults. We have been unable to get this working. It's been really disappointing, as it looks great. Unable to speak to anyone regarding the item. It's little but good for its size. Instructions ok for an adult, bit my son struggled.

Nice little robot
This robot comes in tiny parts and I managed to follow the instructions well. To me personally it was very fiddly to build and my 9 year old would have never been able to build this so it’s definitely the parents job to make. Once it was made it worked fine. It walks around recognising and avoiding obstacles around it. Sadly the legs are not very sturdy and 2 of them popped out of its place after a couple of uses and you have to dismantle part of it again with screwdrivers to be able to fix it so I cannot give 5stars in it as it’s not very sturdy. I am not sure why Amazon asks me to rate face recognition as it doesn’t do that it only recognise obstacles to avoid walking into or hand to follow in the other setting.
