Great device for navigating those last few miles to your destination
I found the device easy to set up, including downloading and installling the various software and map updates. In use it made navigating the last few miles to my destination a lot simpler, quicker, less stressful, and more reliable compared to my previous unassisted efforts at doing this. The touch screen itself seems a little inaccurate at times, and sometimes you have to press in a slightly different postition than that indicated to a get some buttons to work. The display and voice features work together smoothly, and voice directions only come in when necessary - I did not find these in any way excessive or intrusive. There is also a good range of voices to choose from. The manual included in the box will get you started, but is very limited and , to become familiar with all the device features and options, I recommend going to the TomTom website and downloading the full pdf version of the manual, or using the online html version. The device is very flexible in use, provided you know how best to access the various features.I opted to purchase the air vent mount for it rather than attaching it to the windscreen, and found this to be an excellent alternative. It comes in two parts. One part attaches to the air vent, and the other (incorporating a ball and socket joint) attaches to the satnav, and in use simply clips on or off the part attached to the air vent in order to mount or remove the satnav. To attach this second part to the satnav, simply detach the stand that comes with the satnav, and fit the air vent mount instead. Note that the ball bearing type joint has a section removed from it, so adjust the position of this to make removal of the fitted stand easy, and likewise the fitting of the air vent socket joint. You will also need to reverse the direction of the detachable back plate. The Basic model does take a microSD card, but the slot is tucked away under the detachable back plate and not immediately obvious until you look carefully. If necessary you can also check out the TomTom youTube video which shows where to find the memory card slot.. The TomTom site gives information on compatible memory cards .All in all I am very happy with this purchase, and it has proved its value on a recent trip which provided an opportunity to get familiar with the satnav and see how how it performed on an unfamiliar journey and destination.

Good device that does all you need but I suspect there may be cheaper models that are just as good
I bought this as a replacement for my TomTom Start which is now 7 years old. From Ipswich to Cornwall and surrounding areas with low mobile phone coverage+ pro, - con+ screen updates very often when moving round roundabouts and such. No confusion on which exit to take.+ screen is large and very clear but reflects the light a little. Better than a phone screen, but not as good as a Kindle, for example. It wasnt particularly detrimental.+ adding navigation points and rest break is super easy.+ services and roadworks/congestion shows up on your "timeline" (the vertical bar on the right that describes your journey). Theres even a timer to how long it is till your next "event" (queue, service station etc)+ instantly finds GPS where my old one had difficulty+ maintains signal to GPS when mobile phone navigation would have long failed.- Operates on "TomTom Minutes", in which your journey time increases with no reason, even if you're consistently 'making good time' *cough*. Example - 1hr 30 slowly worked up to 1hr40 even though there was no traffic- Takes a while to boot up - about 20 seconds or more, when turned off (theres a sleep modem however i didnt try it)- screen is not as sensitive to use as a phone screen. need a bit of pressure to work- notifications for...something... seem to beep randomly without a corresponding event on screen- advertises as free live traffic updates but you actually need to download an app and pair your mobile to it. The data used is really small though (less than 5MB for the whole week) so dont worry about that too much.- seems expensive really for what actual useful functions it has.

Great satnav
Used this satnav for first time last week while away. It was easy to use and when road works meant a detour it just found new way very quickly. No more arguments about missed junctions. It was worth every penny.

Worth every penny
I absolutely love this nav system. Im not at all technical and it’s so easy for me to use. Not only does it give you directions but it also gives suggestions, which I really like. Graphics are clear, love the choice of voices. Very impressed overall.

what a waist of money
It is useless!! Yes it tells you where to go on the screen but all the features and trying to get it to connect and downloading routs and updates is simply impossible. No amount of contacting TomTom was there any help just a string of emails asking how great is they customer service... what customer service.I replaced my phone at huge expense as i was lead to believe the phone was out of date but new iPhone and still nothing . a nice ornament on the dash now that's all its fit for
