Great way to purchase

I was genuinely surprised by how tasty this was. Just add hot water and you don't even need any other seasoning IMO. They taste like real potatoes and there's a few bits of skin and tiny lumps that, while still smoother than any homemade batch, makes it less soupy than most instant I've had.At about $5 per resealable pack, this is a worthy affordable staple in my pantry, but may be too expensive per serving for large families.

My Mom is not huge into "packaged fast foods" like these, but I was able to show her the magic of the Idahoan potato. I've been using these for years, and these are just as good as their others.The biggest thing is you can't "estimate" your liquid, you really need to make sure you use enough or else they will be dry. You can't overmix either, or they will be "gluey".I make these according to package directions, but I swap 1/4 cup water for 1/4 cup milk and 4 tablespoons of unsalted butter. These are well salted, and do not need the extra in the butter.Make sure the butter is super soft, but not melted, and add the potatoes to the water first. Fold a few times, then add the butter, then fold a couple more and leave it alone!If you want to doctor it up, do it before folding, and they will be amazing.Anyways, I used these for her birthday dinner, and received many compliments. I then gifted her a bag, and that was it. She uses them now too.

These packs of potatoes are huge! We made a whole pack for a family dinner with 4 adults and 2 kids and still had enough leftover for lunch the next day. They are very delicious and easy to prepare - they have a buttery flavor without being too salty. I also found them easy to mix without having lumps or becoming grainy.I really liked these!

Honestly, I do not know anyone who has NOT had these mashed potatoes. They are rich, creamy, buttery, smooth, flavorful, filling, a TRUE Comfort Food!WARNING: each packet if made in full will produce a dozen servings! At most, we will cook a half of a package for our family of 7, and that works just fine.What I didn't like: nothing. These are the real-deal mashers. Once you taste them, you will have flashbacks of favorite memories flow through your frontal lobe, finishing with a full-face smile. Enjoy!

These taste great, easy to make, the 8 pack is convenient.I took away a star because the individual pouches are so difficult to open. There's a notch so they're supposed to be easy tear open. I've tried 5 of the 8 pouches and haven't been able to tear them open yet. Then after tearing they're supposed to be resealable. I haven't tested the resealable part because I always make the full pouch.

This is really nice instant mashed potato product. You get a lot of bags, you don't have to open one large bag so they will keep for a very long time. There is indeed a buttery flavor, and it's indeed made of real dehydrated potato flakes. Instructions say to make it with water, but I use milk and add a little butter and some other bonus ingredients, and it's as good if not better than "homemade". Not to exaggerate too much, but I actually find I prefer the taste of instant potatoes to freshly prepared, which is kind of funny but I've heard this view expressed more than once. I would definitely recommend them.

I'm not a big fan of instant mashed potatoes, but I'm also not a big fan of the prep that goes into making mashed potatoes from scratch every time. I was frankly amazed by how good these instant potatoes taste! When I saw that the instructions called only for water, I felt very skeptical, but the powdered milk that's included in the mix actually does the job. I looked a bit askance at some of the added ingredients, especially the preservatives and added flavoring, but at the same time I have to admit they are more convenient than those that require more ingredients when making them and more flavorful than those that contain only potato powder. Speaking of potato powder, yes, the consistency is typical of instant potatoes, very smooth, but not unexpected with instant potatoes. Each pouch makes 12 half-cup servings, and the directions show how to scale this down for fewer. So Thanksgiving, yeah, I'll be peeling and boiling, but any time I want a last-minute addition to a meal, I'll be reaching for these!
