fan insufficient but units work

The Peltier performance of the units I tested ( 2 of the supplied 3 ) was very poor - temperature differential of ~5 degrees. They were essentially heaters and did not provide any cooling performance. My tests to see if you could get a reasonable temperature drop included cooling one side with high volume cold air - still no cooling on the opposite side. The fans that are supplied in the package are not effective - they don't provide enough airflow to use with the Peltier coolers.

seems pretty good for my needs but when i applied voltage to the cooling device it felt cold for a moment then got very hot

I accidentally left a poor 2-star review because I thought there were only two heat sinks in the box instead of three, which I needed. It turns out that if you lift one of the heat sinks, you’ll find another nested inside to save space. I apologize for any trouble my mistaken review may have caused.

Its a nice little set.

Great teaching set for my 9yo twins as it has everything you need to demonstrate the thermoelectric effect as long you have standard teaching tools for science and engineering. For teaching here’s what else you need/want to demonstrate full functionality: A 12 or 24 volt DC power source (ex: car battery) A contactless thermometer A multimeter A dual-probe thermometer that can simultaneously measure, chart, and display two temperatures Something fun to heat or cool, we did my kids water bottles and my coffee cup to show how you can heat and cool at once A hot and cold source (ice water and coffee as above) to show this running “backwards” and generating electricity.

Not a great kit. The heat sink is not an effective design to keep the peltier cooled at the rated current, part of the problem is the adhesive pad provided isn't good. Using thermal paste instead helped. But still not sufficient. Then the next problem is the provided fan has literally no mounting to the heat sink. Everything functions independently, but this isn't even remotely a thought out kit that works together. Save your money and buy everything separately to ensure you pick and make things that actually work.
