The Imitation of Christ

A most wonderful book in faith formation with explanations and prayers for each topic. A must read after the Bible.

To me, a must have for Catholics or Christian. I have an app where this is narrated. The book is faux leather. Has ribbon marker. Would be a great gift. I’m keeping mine. No disrespect to any other religion. Thank you

This is my third and now favorite translation of The Imitation of Christ. Beautiful faux leather cover! What really sets it apart is how each chapter has a reflection and prayer that help you consider the important (and sometimes difficult!) topic(s) discussed. I’m currently listening to Jim Caviezel’s recitation of the book through the Hallow app (which I highly recommend getting and paying for as it has so many valuable features I use daily). While the actor is arguably problematic, he does an amazing job getting into each day’s reading. Listening to and reading this translation simultaneously help to really understand the material, I feel.

Best book besides the Holy Bible you'll ever read, if your trying to grow into a closer walk with Jesus. I do recommend it. It can be read as a daily devotional or a weekly devotional.

Other than the Bible I honestly think this is a book all Christians MUST read. For me it’s my top #2 book (the Bible being #1). I originally was listening to the audio version with Jim Caviezel on the Hallow app and I just kept screenshoting the text as I can’t highlight it b/c every page, sentence, and word is so true and spoke to me on such a deep level I never experienced. This desire to read more made me want to buy this physical version. I absolutely love how it looks and feels.

A great book with a perspective that really puts humility in the forefront- Truly as the title reads "Imitation of Christ". Purchased for my husband and I ended up reading it 1st. Was so inspiring purchased for someone else. There is a reason it is the next most read (carefully no less) book outside of the Holy Bible. Can not recommend it enough to help one in one's spiritual journey.

Have nothing bad to say about this product. The cover, if not genuine leather, certainly feels nice in the hand. The cover is blue with the title stamped in gold. The paper has matching gold gilding, the paper adds to a sense of high quality when you handle it. The author, if you are unfamiliar with the work, was Thomas a Kempis. Although he wrote this devotional in the early 1400's, I have found this translation very easy to read. Although Kempis was Catholic, I think it would appeal to the serious follower of Christ no matter their denomination. Jesus says, "Pick up your cross and follow me." And James says that faith is dead without accompanying works as evidence. Kempis goes in depth in addressing self-denial, comittment, and the life of righteousness. It goes without saying that he also stresses God's unearned grace and love. Each chapter is no more than three or four pages making it perfect as a devotional. If you are serious about a life of commitment and service, if you are yearning for a deeper experience with God and to be challenged, get this book. I am a little less than half way through and really enjoy it! Get it, it would make a great gift too.
