Great gadget using an already available battery
Using a Makita battery pack to turn into a car jump starter is a good idea and also extends the brand’s battery versatility. The adaptor comes in a plain cardboard box together with basic sheet of instructions - well, it is a basic item anyway that only serves one purpose! The battery slides and locks on much like it does with any Makita type item. There is a green tally light to let you know its active and ready for use but I have yet to use it to start a vehicle: everybody in the area plus family etc seems to have good working batteries at the present time on their vehicles. However with winter about to appear soon, as I write this, it is handy to have about. Once I get to use it in such a situation I will update accordingly but it does feel quite robust both in feel and manufacture.

working fine for powering 12v appliances
I got this but this packaging and instructions are not reassuring that this wont damage my expensive drill battieres for the large number of amps that are required for a jump start. THat said, it's working fine for powering 12v appliances that don't need a mega amount of amps.

Only to be used on 12V batteries
This arrived in a smallish cardboard box with a very small set of basic instructions, but do make sure that you read them before you connect anything. How to use this car jump starter is also on the device itself. Which very basically tells you what do and what the different light combinations mean, and how to proceed. To charge this up you have to use a bosch battery. I like the size of this and the simplicity.

Very Useful When Your Battery Is Dead
The media could not be loaded. This adapter charges a dead battery enough to get your car started. It will not start your car when there is no battery at all. When you connect the Makita 18v battery to the adapter, the light goes green. Then, when you connect the jumper clips to the car battery, the light starts flashing. After a short time, the battery is charged enough to start the car, as you can see in the video. This is a very handy little device that makes it really easy to grab an 18v tool battery and start your car. I am very pleased with it.

It works! Pretty impressive!
I first connected the booster to a freshly charged Dewalt battery and then tested the voltage output which peaked at 13.47 volts - pretty much exactly what the seller claimed. The clamps that are meant to connect to the car battery feel a bit like cheap plastic but they have a nice strong spring and connect securely so nothing to complain about. Next I wanted to test this battery booster properly so I hopped in our SUV and turned the headlights on and ran the battery down until it would no longer start up. I then connected the booster unit to a Dewalt 20v/60v FlexVolt battery and connected the battery cables to the car battery. The green light started flashing on the booster. I tried starting the car and no go. I took five minutes and re-read the ad - on page 5 it says to try starting and says nothing about waiting. In a couple of other places (including the tiny instruction sheet) it talks about waiting for a green light but doesn't really say to wait until it stops flashing. After I went back out to the car the light was steady green and I was able to start it easily. I made a note to remind me in the future to wait a few minutes. My Dewalt 20v/60v FlexVolt battery still showed 3 green lights indicating it could probably do a number of starts on a single charge. I have to say I'm pretty impressed.

Wow, it works!
The media could not be loaded. I wasn't sure what to think of this, but it actually works really well and I am excited because it simplifies what I need to keep in my car. I already have a tire inflator that uses this battery, so now I can use one battery to cover multiple emergency situations. I am pretty impressed. If you have an inflator or other tools with this battery (Makita or it's clones) then this is pretty handy to have, much more lightweight than any lead acid battery jump starter.

Must purchase battery and battery charger separately
Have not been able to test this product, fortunately, as I have not needed a car battery jump. I bought this to carry in the car in case of needing an emergency battery jump. It is small and easy to carry and store in any vehicle. However, this requires having or purchasing the correct DeWalt battery and charger, and those items cost over $100 to purchase. I already had a DeWalt battery and charger, but the wrong ones for this items. It was my fault I did not check that before ordering this.

Small compact unit for jumping cars with Dewalt batteries
This small unit blew me away with its versatility. I have a collection of Dewalt batteries from my power tools that I am able to use with this jump pack adapter. All I do is hook up the Dewalt battery and wait for the LED to turn solid green and then I crank the car over. Very simple to use and deploy with already available and charged power tool batteries.
