Fair Oaks WM0 Pool Wide Mouth Skimmer Repair Kit

We had a problem with rust around our skimmer basket and thought we would need a new pool this year. This was the solution. If you follow the instructions and watch the tutorial, it is doable. I would not say it is easy, because it took a while to seal the skimmer after installation. We also made the mistake of not trimming away enough of the rust/side. The hole you make must be slightly larger than the skimmer. We had to redo the trimming but then it fit nicely. (Make sure you have the metal shears too) Be sure to use the rubberized, waterproof tape to cover the rough edges and screws on the inside, so you don't put holes in your liner. So far, since installation, it has worked great. I would recommend if you only have rust around the skimmer and want to extend your above ground pool's life!

This worked just as described. However, my pool liner is the original (11 years old). When we reattached it, the liner tore near the upper screw holes. The tears were from the screw holes upward above the plastic plate. Since this was above the water level, I did not think it would be too much of a problem if I could stabilize the tear. So I put a lot of the recommended silicone caulk over the liner in this area. It's been a month now and it seems like it will hold. No leaks at all.
