I’m just old enough to have missed playing with the original sets, but by the time I was in my teens, my friends’ younger siblings were deep into them, and much later, as a parent, I think one of the forces that made me agree with my wife that we did, indeed, need to move to a larger place was how tired I got of stepping barefoot on bricks that we thought were all put away.Really, one of the great, basic toys. (I’m much less fond of all of the specialized kits that have parts that look too far removed from the block like shapes, but that’s too big a tangent to get started on.) In any case, for freeform, (”let’s build a new world” type project), you need a LOT of blocks. This box is like an invitation to a new, unknown planet, who knows what needs to be built?The molding is crisp and accurate, with click in compatibility. The colors are generally close enough, with the green being the furthest off—although this is based on the scant remains we still have from over 20 years ago, so possibly the newer colors are more like the ones in this set. The plastic feels very similar to the original pieces.

This is a nice set of building bricks, especially as a first set for someone. It's packaged well. The colors are vibrant and there are many to choose from. There's a good variety of piece sizes to build with. The pieces fit and stay together well.What impressed me most with this set is the three baseplates that come with it because they are buildable on both top and bottom whereas some baseplates are made where you can only build on top of them. The colors are random. Our baseplate colors did not match the colors of the pictures. We don't mind that, but thought I'd mention it just in case. A piece separator is included as well which is nice.

I tested them with a fee genuine blocks and a few other blocks that have been included with various other items [slot car sets with block accessories, other sets]. The grip was tight and made durable creations. Save a few pennies with these for the Christmas budget...

This set is great to provide much needed ammunition to creative building projects my son has ongoing. Individual pieces are great and fits the famous brand very well. My son already used them in a project and was very happy with the quality and the fit. However, although it says the set comes with 3 baseplates, we received only one. The box was sealed so I do not think it was a case of pieces fall out. So if you are getting this set for baseplates, you may not be getting them all.

Yes, they are plain blocks but that is where it all starts. You get 11 different colors and 6 shapes as well as 2 base plates and a divider.The blocks I checked were good quality and the colors were solid. To me, they are high quality, and you are given enough to build a lot with what you get.

A giant pile of building bricks that will work with your name brand ones... Hard to beat that! Our daughter has recently gotten into building after watching some videos and she was beyond excited to have this variety of blocks to work with. The base plates are a nice touch because she's primarily building buildings with these and has already started a couple of new builds after opening these just yesterday. No issues with quality that I can find and they work with the existing name brand bricks perfectly.So yea, great way to give yourself some more options to build with!

These are indeed fully compatible with lego, and each brick goes together smoothly and easily, while holding to each other firmly. Unlike with mini and micro bricks, it is pretty rare to find any of these bricks being half formed or damaged, and they make a great addition to anyone's building block collection. Plus, with the base plates, you have a nice foundation to stick everything to.A solid recommendation for any brick builder!

This is a great supplemental kit. It’s got lots of tiny little pieces like ones and shoes that are usually hard to find my grandkids are finding lots of use uses for this
