In this game, you die.
You are a survivor in a horror story. You can hear the footsteps as you tiptoe out the backdoor. Movement catches your eye. He's upstairs. You leave the house, hoping to reach the edge of the woods. Something heavy thuds behind you as a chainsaw is revved. Start running. As a survivor, your goal is to repair 5 generators to open the exit gates. Your goal as a killer is to stop them from escaping. You are facing death, and you will die. Playing as a survivor is a fun and terrifying experience. You are chased, batted around, repairing generators failing skill checks, saving allies. Its not easy, but so much fun! And then as a killer you turn those same instincts against other players as you hunt them down. If you are playing as a killer, just know you'll get way more points by having fun and chasing people around than by hooking and puppy guarding them till they die. The game is pretty fairly balanced. There are some "perks" that are game breaking, but they are usually countered by other perks. There is a variety of super fun and interesting maps to play in, like an asylum, dark forests, harvest fields, junkyard, and (my favorite) a suburban area. There are different items you can use as well, from a medkit, flashlight, toolbox to an old map and broken keys. A handful of unique killers, and survivors to make every game unique Honestly, i love this game. I've been playing it for about a month now and it still holds quite a thrill! If you like scary movies, scary games, hide and seek or hunting, you'll love this game. I think the "ranking" system for pairing up good players still needs some tuning, and new killers standing and camping dying players is unfortunately common in low ranked games. Also, unless you are a gaming god, playing on Friday/ Saturday is going to be a lot of deaths. All the cheap and crazy killers come out those days

The Bugs Have Been Squashed! ... More Or Less...
All the rumors you've heard are true--initially, this was a very buggy game. However, even through the hook lags and various other glitches, it was still a lot of fun. If you love Horror movies, and Slasher Flicks in particular, then you'll love Dead By Daylight. The environments always have slight changes so you can't quite memorize where things are, and every killer and survivor has different pros and cons that force players to stay on their toes. The new addition of The Huntress has added A LOT to the game; her map is simultaneously beautiful and terrifying, and it's a really nice touch that you can hear her eerily humming and laughing whenever she's near you. The scare factor has decreased a bit for me after playing it so much, but she's really helped to up the paranoia--you'll hear her song in your head even when you're not going up against her, and that's pretty cool. Michael Myers was released today, and he also helps give the game some freshness and oomph. He has an ability that allows him to sneak up on players without setting off the heartbeat trigger, so you'll never know where or when he's about to strike; the Haddonfield map, too, is HUGE, and full of houses and alleys to duck into. Despite it's flaws (many of which have been addressed), this game is a lot of fun and extremely addictive. I highly recommend it.

VERY fun, but challenging and SWEATY!
Having seen many videos and content creations of “Dead By Daylight”, I have been very interested in wanting to try out the game and play, and to my surprise, I’m still very satisfied with that purchase; however with that being said, a critic of the game is going to be about the gameplay itself. Since DBD is online dependent, it will require an online membership of some kind (Depending on what console you play on) and may take many hours to carry proper knowledge of how to play, despite the game’s tutorial. When the killer, the AI can also be a bit of a nag, (if they have been set on) since they will automatically react and know when avoid the said killer. The cosmetics in-game are very pricey as well, so it is important to know going into this that you would need to good grab and set of cash on you. It is also important to note that depending on which version of DBD that you buy, that it will either include a certain amount of characters, or it would not provide any other characters at all. Highly recommended to go for a special or deluxe edition if you have the chance. Requires a lot, but at the end, is still a very fun game to play. Patience is key to success.

Just buy it
If you're looking for a fun and scary game that's online multiplayer, this is the game for you. I have both this and Friday the 13th. Although I prefer Friday, dead by daylight is a lot scarier to me. Dead by daylight's warning system for being found is much more subtle, so if you aren't careful, the killer will be right on you before you can run. Also, dead by daylight gives you the option to play as a killer only, or as a survivor, unlike Friday, which is nice because some people only prefer to Be one or the other. However, the bad thing with dead by daylight is that it's only 5 people to a game, the 5th being the killer and the other 4 as survivors. And also, if you're wanting to play multiplayer with a party, then you can only play as survivors. It won't let you be a survivor and your friend be the killer unless you're doing a private game. The private games don't provide points tho, so axing your friends while trying To rank up is a no go. Dead by daylight offers things Friday doesn't, like multiple killer options, along with a lot more maps. Although the maps are mostly the same with a few different buildings and extra's thrown In. Still a good game tho.

The Best Asymmetrical Horror Game
Forget Friday the 13th, Dead By Daylight is THE best asymmetrical, multiplayer horror game. You can choose to be the killer or the survivor all with their own unique abilities, add-ons, perks and more. There is also a variety of maps that are a little different each time as no match will ever play out the same way. Your goals are simple and as a survivor, you can work together or be a lone wolf. You can play stealthy or be aggressive. No matter which side you choose you are going to lose a lot in the beginning, but eventually you'll become more experienced earn helpful perks, add-ons, and offerings. You'll want to play both sides to learn their weaknesses and limitation. If you don't take the game too seriously you'll have a blast. Thankfully, communication isn't built in (so no annoying 12-year-olds screaming). Survivors have hand gestures that work just fine. If you must chat, you can always create a party on the PS4 inviting the other players. However, I recommend playing this game solo. Again, this game is leaps and bounds above Friday the 13th and will literally give you thousands of hours of play with more killers, survivors, and maps to come. NOTE: This game does have framerate issues on a regular PS4, okay for survivor, but terrible for killer. It's a lot better on the PS4 Pro, however, a patch is imminen to help with the choppinesst.

I don't like the fact that you can't talk to other player ...
I don't like the fact that you can't talk to other player (I know in fri13 not everybody has a mic but when you fall into a lobby full of them. Your having one of the best matches of the week). But still they should add that feature. I enjoy the fact that unlike fri13 the killer can't sense you but, can still track you by tracks you leave when you run. I Appreciate hidding in front of the killer while cursing at him as he walks away. Every time the match ends your brought back to the main menu. Now having to search for a new match (playing solo it might not matter but if you found ppl that u have a great mute relationship your lost 4 ever... well unless you check playersmet or they have a easy to remember game tag. -----> yes I know there's a rematch button but, it's on the top middle screen and it's not really noticeable. Unlike the upgrade & leaving option, the rematch option does not have a link button. You have to move the analog sticks to hover on it to click on it. Also even when your grouped up with friends you still get separated back to main menu (the moment you click on upgrade & ur done with it you find your way back to main menu). 2020 edit- Lol rematch button🤣 (there isn't one) Still no game chat but, you can join a dbd community and hop on/create a party chat. You'll make lots of friends and have a blast. This used to... still kinda makes killers salty to see swf spawn in so, they might dodge you. Good news is they improved the group ft where you dont get sent back to the menu screen. You'll stick together with your swf (survive with friends) group. If solo back to your search lobby. Depending on your ranks and what region your at, you'll face the same killer from time go time. Same thing with matching/ facing other survivors. Which us kinda of cool. Everyone knows each other some how, even if you haven't spoken. We know each others play style so theres some rivalry/ nemesis and friendamie.

Fun game. It's not hard to read.
Ignore the bad reviews, apparently people have an unfortunate inability to read. Yes it is an online ONLY game. Yes you need a Playstation PLUS account to play online. It has always been this way for online games and always will be. It's a good game over all, there is a ton of additional dlc to grab as well for additional money. Get the base game cheap so you can pour some money into the fun dlc characters. Unfortunately, one downfall is most people want to play survivor so it's time consuming between games waiting in the queue for a new game. Killer mode is FIRST PERSON, survivor mode is third person.

Loooooove it~!
As someone who watches Youtuber's play games online, when I first saw Dead By Daylight I knew I wanted to play this game. It's a survival/killer game, simply you either try to survive the round as a random person or you are the killer trying to kill the survivors. It is 100% multiplayer, you never go up against a computer/AI. If playing with friends it's super amusing to try to help each other to survive or you can simply let them die and escape yourself. If you aren't sure as to if you want it, I'd suggest looking up gameplays on Youtube and see what it's like.
