FOUR STARS FOR KEVIN BACON ACTING
Kevin Bacon undoubtedly steals the acting honours - yet again - in this 'true-story' that ISN'T about Henry(i) Young, Murderer, Robber, Violent Criminal BUT for the sake of the film script a fairly innocent prisoner who is beaten and tortured, kept in solitary confinement and who virtually becomes deranged as a result. He then unleashes an attack on an un-witting prisoner and as a result is charged with Murder. However, his Attorney, young-wet-behind-the-ears Christian Slater argues that because of his savage treatment by Warden Glenn, Deputy.Chief of Alcatraz, played by Gary Oldman at his nasty best, it is Alcatraz that should be on trial?

If I could give it 6 I would.
Based on a true story that shut down the dungeons of Alcatraz, this in my opinion is the best Film both Slater and Bacon ever made. Bacon plays Henri Young who was sentence to the rock for stealing $5. he is confined to the dungeons for an unprecedented 3 years and comes out a shattered man both physically and mentally, he quickly slays the stoolie who ratted on him. Slater plays the attorney who defends him in what is an open and shut case. This is gripping movie and Bacon & Slater as stated before are quite simply magnificent. special mention should also go to Gary Oldman who plays sadistic deputy warden Milton Glenn a man you might just want to smash in the face.

Vida real
Sé que esta basada en la vida real, pero si me quede desangelada por como termina. A veces este tipo de peliculas dan coraje. Yo creo que por eso no me quede con un wow en la boca.

Beyond brilliant
An excellent ensemble cast has produced a film that is beyond brilliant. Kevin Bacon is outstanding in his portrayal of a man broken by the officials in Alcatraz. This is the story of his trial for murder and of his inhumane and illegal treatment by the prison guards operating on instructions of the prison authorities. His original crime: stealing $5, to buy food for his family--reminiscent of Jean Valjean in Les Miserables. That mistreatment has turned him into little more than a base animal, psychologically damaged by repeated beatings and by three years in solitary confinement. Do watch this film.

What is justice?
Good quality disc.Unbelievable circumstances suffered by a man for stealing food due to hunger. A hard look at "justice" for such a crime & incongruous cruel treatment of a young man & a system unable to make a reversal of judgement & take accountability for an atrocity.
