A lot to put together, you probably won't finish it
The die-cut pieces, the building frame, walls, bannisters, pre cut toys and premade trees are done extremely well, great die-cut accuracy and the hardware can be put together and a good job done without too much angst. The real work starts with the paraphernalia of Christmas, which deck out the halls of joy, the toys, banners, bunting etc, each of these are printed semi-gloss paper, which is a number of sheets, but not die-cut or adhesively backed as in other makes, wreathes and trees are made form first principles and have tinsel ropes added. Some of the cuts have to be extremely accurate (a disposable Stanley blade is supplied) and the amount of fine blade work takes the enjoyment out of hte build to some extent. This is before the fact that the paper has become severely bent because the box size is too small for the paper sheets and they have to be bent over to get it in the box, leading to larger sheets having a bend in them.In addition to the paper cutting, rolling, gluing and bending, the light system is supplied loose, a number of filamented LED cables and power cables are meant to be twisted into a connection to give the impressive interior lighting circuit seen dotted throughout the book nook, after which the instructions don't really show where the ones finished go. The instructions are a bit vague throughout, being photos rather than exploded artwork , so everything's a bit hit or miss and does really rely upon your craft or construction skills. If you are looking for this as a gift, make sure the person is one who likes craft, likes working things out for themselves and has the patience needed to go back a few times when it's not gone together just right. If this is your first one- be prepared, you were warned, it may not be a restful Christmas.

A lovely little chrismas gift for craft fans..
My partner made a book nook recently and absolutely loved it, so I was really happy to get the option to review this one as she's also completely obsessed with christmas! As with most of these type of kit, it's quite a fiddly process to construct, with many small parts, but for many that's part of the appeal, and if you're patient and careful it can be very cathartic to focus on something like. It certainly keeps my other half amused for hours and she's very happy to do so.Have to admit that we've not started building this one yet due to other projects on the go, but happy to report it's a nicely presented kit, with all the parts in indivivual bags etc. It comes with all you need, including glue etc. and nicely presented guide book with pictures illustrating every step of the build.Lots of patience needed, but really looking forward to the end result.Recommended!

Really fun!
Have bought a couple of these as gifts so got one for myself to try as I love puzzles. Instructions are really good - I haven't finished it yet but it's quite easy to do and great to do with kids - quality is great and looks really good so far - electrics easy to fix and perfect for kids or adults

Very difficult to construct
This kit looks amazing, and so myself and my partner saved it for a rainy day. Storm Ashley arrived and we opened it up.Half an hour later, we closed it up again, and looked for something else to do. There are a lot of different elements, and a lot of them have to be cut and glued. I have seen other kits which use peel off transfers, but this is old school. Each one has to be painstakingly cut around, and glued into place with the glue provided. If you are used to model kits, and have patience and nimble fingers, this may be for you, but the instructions are limited and hard to understand, and the top page of cut outs are bent from being folded in the box, so you have to flatten them first. It is a beautiful looking thing, and I applaud anyone who manages it, but it is too hard for us!

I love these kits.
We have a few of these types of kits, different brands, but they're all basically the same. This kit has everything you need to build it, unlike some of the others. It's a whole hobby kit in one, you don't need to buy anything extra, it even comes with a pair of scissors for cutting the paper and a small hobby knife for removing the plywood parts. The quality of the tools is fine for a first time model maker, but they aren't built to last, if you take it easy and are gentle with them they should last through the entire build though. The wood panels are all of good quality and are laser cut plywood, not mdf, so it's worth taking your time when removing the pieces. Unlike MDF, plywood has a tendency to split and splinter, do be sure to put that knife to work when removing the pieces. The one that I received had clearly taken a bit of a knock to the side. None of the wooden pieces were damaged though, the only casualty was the tube of glue, which had been pierced. Overall though, well packaged. One thing I do like is that the side panels that say "Magic Library" are actually paper decals that you put on. I like to keep my outsides free of words and other things, so being able to leave these off is a real bonus for me. Some other kits have things etched onto the sides, I'm not a fan of things like that. The instructions are clear, simple to follow and if you take your time, you shouldn't have any trouble following them. There's a little bit of wiring in this kit for the lighting, but again, the instructions clearly show you what to do.Something to note is that the printed paper sheets that act as decals come folded in the box. Make sure you pop them under a stack of books or something to flatten them out. It'll make gluing them into place a whole lot easier.Overall, excellent kit. I'll update the review with a picture once I've actually finished building it.
