Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint (novel), Vol. 1

This is my favourite story and I'm so happy an official English translation is finally out and I get to re-read it!

Absolutely LOVEEEE orv!! I’m so glad I can finally read the OFFICIAL English translation (as opposed to the online fan translations which were pretty good too)! The cover is amazing, a lot of detail, though mine did come a little ripped :( I definitely reccomend getting this novel, it’s pure peak (if you have or haven’t read it) it’s def worth it!!! I can’t wait for the next vol to release, i definitely will be buying it!!!

having previously read the original korean novel + the ongoing manhwa i can say with absolute certainty that this translation is beautifully written. it translates most things from the original incredibly well and i am so excited to see the future releases. as for the cover design its gorgeous, the cover isn’t like any other i’ve seen before. the texture is nice and not too rough on the hands and the small opening in the front to see some official art on the inside is a nice detail. highly recommend!

i love orv so much but amazon needs to do better with the quality of their products ive had two copies come so far and both times it was damaged or stained but the actual novel is amazing and id suggest purchasing it if you're a fan of the manhwa/webtoon

Amazing novel, the story is unforgettable and very unique. Translation could be better and it’d be nice if they followed the popular fan translation variant but it’s okay as is aswell. The book is in good condition, the missing star is cause of the questionable translation

I really enjoyed reading this. I rarely read translations of Korean novels and so I loved that I was given a chance to read this one. Having come from being a manhwa/webtoon reader of Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint to the novel, I really enjoyed rereading the familiar storyline of how the main character overcame the first few scenarios. The novel adds a lot of details and interiority that improved my experience of the scenes I already knew. The pacing was great and the flow of the story felt really natural. One of the most interesting differences with the novel mode (as opposed to the visual format of the manhwa) is that I felt a weird dissonance between the omniscient paragraphs and the first person point of view. The former felt distanced, whilst the latter were close to Dokja. But the more I thought about this, the more I began to feel it was a stylistic element of the story. Dokja as our OMNISCIENT READER is supposed to feel quite distanced from the narrative. He’s supposed to seem detached. It’s something that I think really works with the storyline and what I know from the manhwa. My favourite interactions in this volume were the ones between Dokja and Gilyeong. Despite what Dokja says, I think he has a real soft spot for Gilyeong and I love how Gilyeong looks up to Dokja and trusts him. It’s really heartwarming. I am a little frustrated that there isn’t more of the story, but that’s because I want to READ MORE. I’ll have to tide myself over by rereading the manhwa.

I absolutely adore Orv and i highly recommend it, however i made the mistake of buying/preordering it from Amazon and received a damaged copy which I requested them to immediately replace, which they did with a even more damaged copy and now today by some mistake i have received another copy by accident which is even more damaged. Will purchase from elsewhere. The most damaged is the newest and the least is was the first one, all the books had some issues most common was bent edges and the second one had a small tear cover and behind the cover page it was dirty? the last one had small damage on front cover page, around the window of the book?

O livro trás uma história emocionante, divertida e que faz transbordar em sua mente encantamento com seu mistério, drama e fantasia de forma incomparável. Foram tomadas algumas adaptações para a tradução que não são exatamente ideais (a imagem popular de um goblin é muito diferente dos dokkaebi descritos no livro), porém, apesar disso e de um leve amassado na lombada do livro, é evidente que essa impressão é de grande qualidade de produção; A capa é absolutamente linda sendo texturizafa pra imitar constelações e lindamente decorada com estampas prateadas refletivas, as ilustrações que a seguem têm papel poster que é bem mais resistente e fez com que as páginas viessem em perfeito estado. Essa é uma história que merece 5 estrelas, mudou completamente minha vida com ensinamentos sobre devoção, perdão, força de vontade, a importância da conexão humana, lidar com traumas e encarar o futuro com esperança mas acima de tudo orv é uma história sobre o amor por histórias. Realmente é uma sensação inigualável folhear uma versão física e poder reler palavras tão familiares com minhas mãos após amar omniscient reader's viewpoint por tantos anos!
