Could Anything Be Better
Emma Thompson, one of my favorite actresses has written a simply marvelous book that continues the stories of Peter Rabbit. She writes scripts and now has given us Peter and Benjamin Rabbit.A country fair was coming to their area, and Peter and Benjamin Rabbit thought how wonderful to go. The fair was going to have a Punch and Judy Show, a Merry go round, a small roller coaster and a coconut shy. Since this fair takes place in England, I was not familiar with 'coconut shy'."A coconut shy (or coconut shie) is a traditional game frequently found as a sidestall at funfairs and fêtes. The game consists of throwing wooden balls at a row of coconuts balanced on posts. Typically a player buys three balls and wins each coconut successfully dislodged. In some cases other prizes may be won instead of the coconuts. The word "shy" in this context is an English term meaning to toss or throw." WikipediaUnfortunately, Momma Rabbit was not fond of fairs, she thought that people to be avoided only went to that fair. Instead the boys should go and help their uncle pick berries. So, off they went. When you read this book you will see the adventures that Peter gets into and Benjamin got to observe. Parents/teachers will love reading this book to their children. It is full of fun and whimsy, and the boy rabbits get up to mischief. The children will have all sorts of questions about English Fairs, and the where and the why of things. The illustrations by Eleanot Taylor are magical and colorful, and depict all the adventures undertaken by the boy rabbits. This story is inspired by Beatrix Potter and her wonderful tales of Peter Rabbit. Emma Thompson is one of those people who can charm us with her words and actions. This book is but an example of her creativity. The book is itself very attractive, full of the magical words and illustrations, sure to enchant any child. My granddaughter loves this book, and it was such a nice surprise for her. And, to top it all off a CD of this book, recorded by Emma Thompson is enclosed. Could anything be better?Highly Recommended. prisrob 10-03-14

Beautiful story , amazing narration !
My daughters and I listen to the CD in the car EVERY day (twice!!!!) We really love the story and Emma Thompson's narrating is beautiful. I only wished the story was a bit longer (The Further Tale(s) of Peter Rabbit was over 15 min and was a great length for our drive home .
