Great Read!!!
I really enjoyed this book because it makes learning about waves fun and easy to understand. The illustrations are colorful and show examples of waves in real life, like water, sound, and light waves. I liked how it explained that waves carry energy even when we can’t see them. This book is perfect for kids in elementary school who are curious about science. It also includes examples with animals and people that make the concepts relatable. Overall, it’s a great way to introduce physical science in a way that keeps kids interested and engaged.

WAVES (written by Andi Diehn, illustrated by Shululu, published by Nomad Press), is one of four books in a set of Curious Concepts for Kids - the other titles are MATTER, ENERGY and FORCES. The book begins with a cute poem, giving an overview of the different kinds of waves, and as the book goes on, the author ties the examples together with the overarching theme of how waves work. The pages are sprinkled with“Try this!” boxes that preset easy, fun experiments to demonstrate the concepts in the text. WAVES is a simple, fun intro to physical science - I imagine it would be very useful as a STEM/STEAM text in elementary classrooms.

Wonderful science book without being boring!
I love this book! It's teaching your children without them knowing they're being taught. Waves are all around us and it talks about the transfer of energy in a wave and where they can be found. My four year old and I had a talk about each page and I found she grasped most concepts. The pictures are vibrant and well done as they give the child something else to talk about. There is a small discussion to bed had on each page. The older my girls get the more time we spend having conversations about things we spot on the pages of books. This book even had her dad, sister and I doing the 'wave' on the sofa last night to demonstrate a different kind of wave. I also made 'waves' in her bath water and we talked about energy and transference. Pretty heady topics for someone a month shy of her 4th birthday. What a great way to introduce more science in a fun way. I can wait to get the other books!
