Amazing, just read it
One of the best tankobons I've ever read. The main plot is almost an excuse to give us a great story of friendship between boys of the 70s/80s. It reminds a lot of Stephen King's "Stand By Me / The Body" or "IT", in the way it interweaves past and present adventures and "getting the band back together". The atmosphere is obviously Japanese, but I think a lot of Western audiences will also connect with it - my Italian youth of the '80s felt very similar, this book made me incredibly nostalgic. The series as a whole will become a bit uneven and dragged-out in later volumes, but this one is a masterpiece and deserves to be read even if you don't plant to get the rest.

Must read for Manga lovers.
One of the best manga I ever read. I had read the whole series back in 2006. 14 years later, it still holds up. The cover and spine looks amazing and great as a bookshelf addition.

a solid story
Started a bit slow but finishing this volume, we have a solid story on. While I was reading it I kept telling myself this is what Stephen King would have written if he was a manga artist. The two time period between adult and childhood reminded me a lot of some of King works, It for example. This manga have good humor, I often have trouble with humor in manga, find it too young, too light or just not my style, but this one has some great moment.
