Great Book, Shame about the Movie!
Hi, this is an incredibly detailed expose into the making of The Predator movie. This book features interviews, production photos, sketches, production stories, script development, actors chronicles etc and is very complete. This would be a welcome purchase for any Predator fan and is a great coffee table flick-through. The only problem being that, despite the talent clearly on display, there is no mention of the horrendous production problems. No mention of the massive cuts made to the final print, the removal of the entire third act (including the Emissary Predators, Hybrid Creatures and Edward James Olmos' General Woodhurst) and the hair-pulling exercise that beset it's writer/director Shane Black as he desperately tried to finish the movie - all the while trying to manage the negative test screenings from his original cut of the picture. Now that's the kind of story that would make a good book! Ultimately despite being a high-quality Hardback book this represents a folly that should never have been undertaken in the first place.

Nice cover.........not much else
Excellent cover and then very little else. Much like the film itself it is brief, rushed and lacking in any relevant detail.Where is all the concept art for the predators edited out of the final film? There is far more to see and learn from on social media than this.Where is all the concept art for that dreadfull Predator Killer suit? Yes I hated the tacked on ending but at least show us even the bare minimum of designs that went into it.If that is all there is to share about the design process of the Assassin Predator no wonder it went down like a lead balloon in the film. This does not reflect the amount of designs, artwork, suits and models made for the film surely? What of the original story, edits, reshoots. I for one would love to learn of those details and designs. The companion books to AVP and AVPR were FAR better than this. Where are the interviews with the two predator actors? Yes one was removed from the film, but they shot a ton. I'd be fasciated to learn of their experience. The biggest blow come from the Shane Black letter to the cast and crew. Reading that I was filled with optimism. Then I remember what we got in the Cinema.

Not great
Not great, one of the poorer "making/art of" books. Just not enough content

Not an art book
I am a big predator fan and was disappointed with the lack of art in here. It's mostly photographs which are good, but I would've like to have seen more of the concepts, sculpture work and art. If you wanna see awesome concept art then do check out The AVP movie art books which are packed with art, sculpture and behind the scenes photographs though!

In a word, “Poo”.
It’s awful. Worse than the the film, which is a tough act to follow. To borrow from other review thoughts, given the tremendous quality of some of its peers’ content, This is almost unforgivable.Even at £2.99 brand new and sealed, this hurts my head like a mild blunt force trauma. If you want monotone, featureless, grey CG model work superimposed on sub pre-vis backgrounds, this is for you! If you like to look at blobs of bland putty going off after being stuck to a catalogue of other putty manufacturers putty-centric offerings , don’t get this. It’s so “destimulating” that you may never get it up for putty again. Which is ironic if you really think about it.“The Shart and Making of The Predator” would be a better soubriquet. The only reason I’m not returning it is so one day I can give it to someone as a gift. Someone I really, really hate. Or perhaps on the occasion I might need a single use chopping board for passed date pickled offal. In summary, no, I wouldn’t even wipe my nipsy with it for fear the slippery butterscotch brown might upstage the dismal mono-gray tones within.Like that slobbering, gooey kiss your rickety old auntie used to give you on the ear when it came time to leave the care home, somehow that dribble entered the ear canal and by way of the sinuses, made it’s way down to the back of your throat and into your gob. It’s unavoidable, unnecessary, unwarranted and just horrible.Mmmnnnnn…. Butterscotch!

Poor design and basic content, save your money!
Bench-marked against the high standard of film companion books nowadays, in particular the Marvel art books, this book is terrible. Content is basic, design is appalling, there is a shortage of conceptual art (it’s mainly photos) which normally enriches such books and what little there is is basic. As an ‘art’ book it’s the worst I’ve seen in years, as a ‘making of’ book it’s average at best. Highly disappointing. Avoid, and save your money. Would give zero stars if I could!
