Camrons approval
is a 1994 American action comedy film written and directed by James Cameron, based on the 1991 French comedy film La Totale! The film stars Arnold Schwarzenegger as Harry Tasker, a U.S. government agent, who struggles to balance his double life as a spy with his familial duties. Jamie Lee Curtis, Tom Arnold, Bill Paxton, Art Malik, and Tia Carrere star in supporting roles. True Lies was the first Lightstorm Entertainment project to be distributed under Cameron's multimillion-dollar production deal with 20th Century Fox, as well as the first major production for the visual effects company Digital Domain, which was co-founded by Cameron. It was also the first film to cost $100 million.True Lies received mostly positive reviews from critics, and ultimately grossed $378 million worldwide at the box office, becoming the third-highest-grossing film of 1994. For her performance, Curtis won the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress – Motion Picture Musical or Comedy and the Saturn Award for Best Actress, while Cameron won the Saturn Award for Best Director. It was also nominated at the Academy Awards and BAFTAs in the Best Visual Effects category, and also for seven Saturn Awards. With the rumour of the transfer to 4k of what I call the Cameron trilogy, Aliens, True Lies, and The Abyss (Not available in the UK, Thanks BBFC) not being very good, I was hesitant to splash the cash, but these movies will go down as Camarons peak along with Titanic which was top class in 4K upgrade. True Lies has never received as much respect in physical media since its first DVD release it was good to finally get a little attention. Yes there are a few scenes where the skin looks a little waxy, but I am no tech expert and doing a little research can understand the reason why, Cameron oversaw everything and he has signed off on it so for me True Lies sits in my 4k collection

An action classic now in 4K
Lets get this out the way first. Like some, I too have seen the reports and opinions on picture quality of this is 4k release. I was concerned until I started watching it. For the most part it is excellent. Like the Terminator 2 release the picture quality at times can look very soft. To the point where peoples faces look a little waxy. However, its in no way as distracting as the T2 one (or the infamous Predator - Ultimate Hunter Edition). The close ups of peoples faces are full of detail and it generally looks quite good in my opinion. The colour grading is generally quite nice and SOME grain in retained in some scenes. So it's not been completely DNR'd, which is nice. The film it self though, it's a classic in my eyes. Balls the wall spy/espionage thriller with a lot of dark humour spliced in through out and it works excellently. Brilliant set pieces, excellent action, great music and at its heart, a husband and wife story. There's a few extras over on the standard Blu-ray; the newest being a look back on the film from a few of the cast members and James Cameron himself. It really shows at how the way films used to be made that they were willing to take so many risks to make something special. This is big budget Hollywood action spectacle at its finest. As the saying goes, they don't make them this anymore and that is absolutely true in this case. Films should be made like this again, do everything you can in camera, for real. Its part of what makes them stand the test of time.I'm sure by now you've already seen this film many times over the years, so you probably just wanted to know how the film looks in terms of quality. I'd personally recommend it. There are a few issues here and there but its definitely worth getting. Even more so if you love this film.

Great Schwarzenegger Action Film
This is a great Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jamie Lee Curtis Action film, that also blends comedic elements. I remember seeing this in the cinema in 1994 and have been looking forward to the 4k/Blu Ray for a very long time. The film is fantastic, with amazing action set pieces. The 4k transfer isn't stunning, but it also isn't as bad as some reviews i have read. The recent Aliens 4k looks better than True Lies in the picture department. Not sure of the reason why, could be camera/ film stock or just the transfer itself. However this is still the best the film has ever looked and I am happy with the upgrade. Recommended.

Best I have Ever seen this movie
I had watched all the reviews of this UHD movie, and upto the price decrease had maid up my mind to buy. At £20 felt I would take a chance. Boy was I glad that I did. In my opion the picture is fantastic for a 35 year old movie, that has been through the wars, to look like this is a miracle, very sharp, and clear, sound in dolby atmos really was great, with not to much base. (I have found many atmos films do suffer with heavy base, which I am not a fan of) Not being a lover grain this was just right. David Camaron and his team has really done a great job of the restoration. I can see no reason not give this the full 5 stars. If I did have one very small criticism the UHD does let you see the stunt people to clearly when there playing a major actors part. (I guess you cant have everything I suppose)
