Why does my Gardena leak from the control box

Can I use these on the end of a hose, so I can rapidly swap sprayer nozzles, with other end of the hose attached to spigot as normal?

when ad states that is works with 5/8 and 1/2 it's only referring to the connector, not the hose... correct??

Do thsese connectors restrict the water flow? They appear to have a reducer at one end!
