Wow, I’m impressed! Solid heavy and Decor assimilating!
Definitely impressed with this umbrella stand. I searched endlessly for one that wasn’t $200+ and this fits the bill. It’s ACTUALLY HEAVY!! Which is what I wanted and needed so it won’t budge!! It’s beautiful and still looking good in the beating sun of STL. Though it’s not exactly my style, it blends well with any decor and fits in to just about any look. Will definitely be Buying another for our large patio. Thank you for a great product that fulfilled my expectation in quality, strength, style and function! Will add pic later.

POOR QUALITY AND TERRIBLE PACKAGING
Had to return this item twice. The first time all I got was the base, the tube and hardware were missing. Called Amazon and was told they couldn't replace missing parts and I had to return this one and get another. The second one was not constructed as advertised and I returned it. This base weighs 50 lbs and and on both shipments the packaging was literally destroyed and had been taped and retaped. I'll never purchase a HEAVY ITEM like this on line again. It's better to pay a little extra money and buy one from a local store. Plus this base was cast iron and the painted finish was not good and i'm sure it would rust quickly.

Great product
I bought this with some trepidation, concerned it wouldn't be strong enough to hold up an umbrella without the additional support of a table - but I'm pleased that it has worked just fine. The base is quite heavy and high-quality. I bought a small bistro table (on another site) that clamps onto the pole (no legs touching the floor) so it doesn't take up so much patio space. Altogether, it's a great addition to my patio.

good product heavy enough
heavy enough to secure an open 9 ft market umbrella in wind without a table to stabilize

A good heavy base
I just received this heavy base for a windy location. It worked well in the wind last night. My umbrella pole is1.5 in. in diameter, so I was pleased with the plastic collar. However, the collar has an insert to make it work with smaller diameters. This is not obvious. Until I succeeded in prying the collar apart, I was upset. The support tube bolts to the heavy base. An closed end umbrella pole would ride on the bolt. This not the best arrangement. I placed shims (cut wind corks) to raise the pole above the bolt.An open-ended pole would not have this problem.

"Sold and shipped by Amazon?"
This item arrived to my address in CA 2 days ago and I assembled it today. There were several problems. First, the shipping invoice indicated it had been ordered from Walmart by a woman in New Jersey and shipped by Walmart to my address. Your description indicated "sold and shipped by Amazon." I do not patronize Walmart and if I had known it was purchased this way I would not have ordered it.Second, it had been shipped in a light, almost flimsy corrugated box with some loose chunks of styrofoam which provided no protection whatsoever for the contents. The box had obviously worn through and fallen apart during shipment, since it had been taped up several times to hold it together enough for delivery.I give you that it is a very sturdy piece of cast iron and had not suffered any damage in transit.Third, the thumb screw would not go through the threaded nut welded on the riser. The thumbscrew is supposed to bear on the umbrella pole and keep it steady, but only a 1/4" tip came through the hole into the barrel of the riser, not even touching the pole. I chased the problem down. The nut was welded around a hole drilled in the riser. During manufacture, the nut had been welded off-center to the hole, and the edge of the riser hole blocked a small part of the screw from going through. I was able to chase the threads through the obstruction with an 8mm tap I purchased for the job, but also found the threads on the thumbscrew were not cut properly so the thumbscrew could not be threaded through even a brand-new 8mm nut. I bought an 8mm cap screw at the same time, and ended up using the cap screw instead of the supplied thumb screw. This was in fact two manufacturing errors on a single assembly. This echoes my experience with Walmart products and one of the reasons I don't patronize them.Third, the finish on the cast iron was decidedly more "polished brass" than "bronze" so I also bought and applied some "rubbed bronze" paint to match it to the "bronze" finish on my umbrella pole. I had hoped the bronze stand would much more closely match the umbrella pole, though I recognize that it would be unreasonable to expect a perfect match.I'll give it 2 stars because it does look like it will work well for me, but I really am disappointed with the Walmart connection and the quality of manufacture.

Great but will rust
The umbrella stand is just the right color and weight. Unfortunately, it rusted all over within a few days so I had to paint it.

Love this...
I read nearly all of the reviews on this product and decided to take a chance. It arrived in perfect condition and that was, indeed, a surprise. The stand is great; but the packaging is wholly inadequate. Take a chance because it is a beautiful and well designed stand; but be prepared to request a replacement if it arrives damaged. A side note: the bronze finish is very nice but inappropriate for our wrought iron furniture so I spray painted it black and it took the new finish perfectly.
