Grates quickly, and cleans easily
Why did you pick this product vs others?:Our waiter at Il Mercato used this, and we were impressed by how well it worked. He wrote the name for us, and we checked on Amazon when we returned home. It's also easy to clean. The plastic is sturdy, it's easy to operate, and it grates quickly. We highly recommend.

Amazing! Big time saver.
This is not a solicited opinion. The cheese grater worked so well that I had to share.I needed 6 cups of shredded cheese for a mac and cheese recipe. The first time I made it I only had a flat cheese shredder. It probably took an hour to shred all of that cheese. So I looked on line and found this hand held cheese grater. I love it! It took about 15 minutes to grade the 6 cups of cheese.I really like the fact that you can insert the cylinder either from the right side or the left side. This makes it great for a left-handed person, which I am. I turned it sideway so that the cheese fell directly into my bowl. I used mozzarella cheese and cheddar cheese. Both were cold when I shredded them. And the clean up was practically nothing. I took the cylinder back out of it and rinsed everything off with water. I used my palm brush gently to scrub the remaining cheese off. Then used the dish rag to wash it. It took maybe 3 minutes.

Nice and sleek, almost perfect
Nice sleek design, works for both left and right handed people--a clipped ring on the side allows the flexibility. It is light, and the two drums allow for thin and coarse grating. Easy top use, to take apart (and to clean, but a small caveat). Just one tiny reservation: the design of the metallic drums is such that there's a tiny slit where the two ends of the curved metal piece join, and cheese catches when you turn the drum, and gets stuck in that slit, difficult to dislodge when cleaning. Without this detail, it would be 5 stars.

Parmesan and cheddar excellent. First one now at daughter's house, second one on its way.
Overall much less effort, and way quicker. Easier on wrists, hands, and arms. Perfect for when larger amounts needed, not so much for smaller amounts due to time cleaning, Unless you want to show off at a special meal.We much prefer the quality of fresh grated cheese, using U.S. Cheeses, which can be reasonably priced at about $4 a pound, but still very good for daily use. We also use imported parmesan daily. Had been grating on a box grater, hard work, and dangerous to the knuckles for year.Yes, as noted in other reviews you can only put in smaller pieces, but it only takes a couple of seconds to slice off another chunk, open the grater, and start again. The larger barrel is perfect for chunks of white cheddar, as long as it comes straight from frig. The smaller barrel is good for the hard parm, but it comes out larger than I had expected. However, it comes out so very thin, so it melts just a bit on hot food, in a very good way. We put it on popcorn, and although it sort of melts on to the popcorn, and disappears, mixed with butter, nutrient yeast, and a little salt, it is something good.Cleaning is about equal to box grater, using a brush, or dishcloth. Have used the dishwasher a few times, and that was fine. Can make a Huge pile of cheese faster, and easier on arms and wrists, and safer. We store our cheese in glass containers in the frige. If got a larger one, might try keeping the grater in the frig with the cheese, to avoid cleaning it all the time.If needed a tiny amount off of block of cheddar, would still use my little flat hand grater with a handle.Made unusable mess out of whole carrots. Will still use box grater for them.

the best rotary grater I have found so far
really well made grater. My Mouli grater finally broke and I have tried several replacements but this is the first I have found that actually does a good job of replacing the grater.

Pretty good, but far smaller than it seemed.
Purchased this because I was so tired of using a standard grater. However, when I first opened the box I was surprised by how small it was. Still, I washed it and set to work grating a 32 oz block of cheddar for a recipe. A few things sprung to mind almost immediately.1.) The small size of this product makes grating any piece of cheese bigger than about 2 inches by 2 inches impossible, so grating requires you to cut your block of cheese into small pieces first.2.) The piece of cheese you are grating can only be so long before the press that you use to push it against the grater is unable to work securely.3.) You hold the press in with your hand, but there's only one way to do so, and you have to apply quite a bit of pressure to get the cheese to hit the grater, so your hand gets sore pretty quickly. This product is easy to assemble, grates the cheese evenly and cleans relatively easily. However, I wouldn't recommend it for big recipes- there's just too much extra work to do for it to be 'convenient'. I suppose my search for the perfect grater continues.
