Then She Was Gone: A Novel

I haven’t read a full book in quite sometime. I decided I needed to pick a book and dive in! I’m so glad I chose this one. I couldn’t put it down. Sad, twisted, but entertaining. Her storytelling is exquisite! I just purchased another one of her books. A must read for sure!

Don't read the full synopsis. I read something that gave away a piece that had I not known before starting would have made this an excellent read. There were still some great plot twists. Good character development with the lead role. Easy read and I couldn't put it down. It was chosen for a book club.

I opened this book last night 05/01/24 at around 1000pm and it is midnight 05/03/24 and I have completely finished reading the whole book. I’m not the one to pick up a book and read but this book kept me on the edge of my seat and I couldn’t put it down. It’s a must read. It’s mystery murder and hot romance all in one.

One of the best books to begin 2024. I couldn’t put this book down. From the beginning this author pulled me in. Her writing style makes you feel like you are in the story and gives a good visual of everyone, every street, the homes and the vibe. Eloquently written and crafted. Gritty at times. Just an overall great book from start to finish. I will definitely read more of her books.

This was so sad and twisted but I got so invested! I haven’t read a book in a day in a long time, nor have I read a thriller in a long time either. I was very invested in the story and highly recommend it!

Another good book to read. Mystery lovers

I figured out the big "twist" the first time Laurel pointed out how similar Ellie and Poppy were. I feel like they could have made it a bit more riveting if they'd leaned harder into Laurel's mental health issues, so that neither Laurel nor the reader could determine whether or not Laurel was seeing very real similarities, or was going mad with grief. Poppy was also way too over the top; I'm perfectly willing to suspend my realm of disbelief for a work of fiction, but I didn't find Poppy to be "adorably and creepily precocious" I found her to be completely unbelievable as a character and rolled my eyes at the ridiculous things she said. Laurel got over Ellie's burial quite quickly, which was a bit jarring considering Laurel's inability to let go of Ellie was supposed to be a major plot/character point, and it felt rushed. The book also took a little too much time to really pick up the pace, but overall, it was an entertaining enough read that kept me occupied for a bit.

Just a fantastic, sad, bittersweet read. Sadly a very believable story. Well developed, hard to put down. You won’t regret it!

This is a book I have already and purchased it for a friend on her birthday. Really good storyline if you like mystery and a bit of suspense.

This book catch up out attention from beginning to the end. Awesome. I was just wondering a different endpoint but that was a incredible experience to read this book

One of the best books I have read in years! Extremely gripping, and hard to put down! Finished this within 2 days, and have had to order more!! Lisa Jewell is an absolute master of writing!! Incredible, and is a must buy!!!
