Product is amazing, package was damaged
Was looking forward to try it out. Love it. The item itself was vacuum sealed and not affected, but the nicely made boxes were dirty (like were kicked by the feet on the dusty floor) and ripped.

The darker-than-expected color would be unappetizing for some
The mullet roe I received is so dark brown it's close to black. The color is definitely different than the amber color shown on the Amazon page. After doing some online research, I learned that the black color comes from one of the following: 1) too much blood of the mullet fish went in the roe due to shock when the fish was caught, 2) Bruises to the roe, possibly during transporting and before the salting and drying process, 3) The roe has been stored too long and it has lost certain level of freshness. You can test this by putting the roe up to bright light. If the row is not somewhat opaque, it is not fresh enough.I did taste Mr. Moris's Bottarga. It is not foul-tasting. But it's flat-tasting. It is salty as expected. There's no "smell of a good fish" or "taste of the sea" kind of dimensions to the roe. It is bitter even if you eat a very thin slice of it. That bitter taste stays in your mouth for the next couple of hours. I see why the enclosed recipe suggests breaking the roe to sprinkles and crumbs for a pasta dish.I agree with another reviewer, that mullet roes from Taiwan get way more gourmet points than Mr. Moris's product. Although I did pay twice the amount for those.

Wow, Is .This Delicious!
I love spaghetti alla bottarga since discovering it in Sardinia. Since then, I’ve learned how to make it and always have bottarga on hand for when the urge hits. I’ve ordered numerous brands of bottarga through Amazon and have liked them all but this one is slightly different. When I received it (quickly and beautifully packaged), I noticed it was darker than what I’ve seen. I wrote to the company and was assured it was fine to eat. Tonight, I tested it out, making my usual spaghetti bottarga. It was delicious. The Mr. Moris Bottarga has a subtler, smoother taste than many I’ve tasted. One of the ways to eat bottarga is thinly sliced (with a glass of champagne if the gods are with you) but that idea never appealed to me until I tasted this one. A briny, clean taste which, I think, can stand on its own. And the price...bottarga is not inexpensive but this brand is a great deal. I plan to order another piece within the next few days. Also, their customer service is amazing. They answered my concerns about the color of it promptly and, as a ‘sorry’ , sent a few items to try. So, great bottarga, great price, great customer service.

Tastes as should everytime I buy it
Supposably your supost to grate this over pasta or somthing. I'm a Slav so I cut thin slices of this and nibble on it like I'm a rabbit. It is expensive but i remember the labor my dad put in to make it with local fish. 10/10 may your company live long and prosper
