Nice small and silent unit with some issues for Home Lab use.
After watching all the reviews of this unit, I immediately removed included OS USB Drive upon arrival and started experimenting with different OS and Virtualization options. Here some important notes:- Not all of its NVMe slots are equal. I have 5 NVMe drives attached (1 for boot, 4 for ZFS RAID) If you populate drives from slot 1 to 8 direction, you need to disable VT-d in BIOS to be able to boot. After populating drives in reverse order from 8 to 1 it successfully booted with VT-d enabled. I am not sure which NVMe slots and why are them causing this issue. Did not investigate it further. This issue itself may require some BIOS update love from Terramaster.- I am running Proxmox VE as a host OS and using Virtualized TrueNAS with 4 PCIe NVMe drives redirected to the VM. This setup itself filled up the available ram with one or two extra light VMs running. (one of them is portainer with 2-3 dockers running, other is pi-hole) So if you are thinking to do similar setup, make sure you upgrade its ram to 32GB. ZFS+TrueNAS itself requires minimum of 8GB Ram to operate. Ballooning RAM setup crashes TrueNAS if there are no room to expand.

Works fine for me
I just thought I'd jump in with a preliminary review because overall I've been pretty satisfied.Pros:* Elegant form factor* Really easy access* Good specs* Web UI slick and well laid out* RAID is very easy to set upCons:* Setup experience wasn't the best. Needed to install an app, and it didn't initially find the device. Initial install failed and I had to download the firmware offline.* DHCP didn't work and I needed to set up my DNS server manually. This caused all sorts of problems. It didn't tell me what the problem was and just kept saying "something went wrong" at various points like trying to download updates or use the app store. Tech support were unable to diagnose this.* Manual login and initial IP address assignment wasn't very smooth and very confusing.* Fan's are quite small and you can hear them in a quiet office.* Yottamaster USB-C external enclosure didn't work. However the software happily let me configure my external disks as RAID, it just lost the whole setup on reboot and there was no way to get them back.

Good value hardware
Ignore the warning of an insecure connection when accessing the router via http://tnas.local, once it is connected to your LAN (as advised by TerraMaster support). Most apps you would want to stretch your legs with NAS seem to be there, including Docker engine, several synchronisation, deduplication and backup apps, and a monitoring system to attach CCTV to.The main stumbling block for me was unblocking my email address for the account registration, but this can be done via live chat. The hours for chat seem to start and finish early in the UK (which makes sense for a China-based company), so best to log on first thing in the morning.

The TOS system is rubbish
The TOS system is rubbish. After setting up, you're unable to log back in for some time. There have been multiple posts on the TerraMaster forum, and some people are losing their data as they need to reinitialize the whole setup ! Since it looks like I can't relay on this I'll have to return it and go with the new Asustor Nas...
