Compact, accurate and very nicely presented
This range finder is probably most useful for golfers, but is also ideal for archery and other sports where knowing the distance to your target is important.I'm a terrible golfer, and using a range-finder probably wouldn't help much. However, I'm also a pretty decent archer. The club I use specialises in Target archery, and has targets pre-positioned at distances from 30m to 100m, and a second field with the targets spaced in yards. A quick look through the range finder at the targets confirmed that it's pretty accurate and well within the +/- 0.5m claims. The archery targets aremaybe a bit too close to really test it, as the maximum distance the rangefinder can measure is a stonking 1200m. That would be an impressive shot with a bow!The shortest distance it can measure is 5m, which is about the closest archery target you can expect to see.Obviously, for target archery you already know the distance. This rangefinder is far more useful for practising with 3D targets, or for field archery. Some competition rules don't allow you to measure the distance to the target, so it really pays to learn what different distances look like. Learning to estimate distance accurately is a key part of field archery, and is a lot easier with a rangefinder.I tend to put a selection of targets out, guess the distance to them and then check with the rangefinder. For longer distances, I keep the rangefinder in my pocket while I'm out walking, guess the distance to trees and bushes and check how close I am using the rangefinder. Just don't accidentally point it at other people - they don't like it and think you are taking pictures. The rangefinder arrives really nicely packed, in a sturdy, printed card box. Inside the box is a charging cable, a lens cleaning cloth, an instruction booklet, and the rangefinder in a carry case. Overall, the presentation is top-notch and it would make a really nice gift.Regarding the charging cable, the slot in the rangefinder is quite narrow. The supplied USB C cable fits perfectly, but the plastic part of a generic one I tried was slightly too big and wouldn't fit. Don't lose the cable. The rangefinder is easy to use - look through it, press the button nearest your eye, put the flashing dot on the target and after a moment the readout gives you the range and angle. The other button scrolls through three modes which are described in the manual and basically give you the vertical or horizontal distances along with the angle, enabling you to compensate for terrain elevation, or even calculate the height of a building. Pressing and holding the same button switches from Meters to Yards. One thing I noticed in use is that the eyepiece is not very comfortable. It has to be very close to your eye to get a good picture, and the knobbly bits of the rubber focussing wheel press into your eye socket. With glasses on, I found it quite difficult to get a good image.

easy to pick out targets
A handy and reliable rangefinder that makes a real difference on the course. The accuracy is spot on, and the flag pole locking vibration feature is great for quickly confirming distances. The 7X magnification provides a clear and crisp view, making it easy to pick out targets even at longer distances. The slope function is a useful addition, helping with more precise shot calculations. It’s lightweight and compact, so it doesn’t take up much space in the golf bag. The rechargeable battery is a nice touch, saving the hassle of constantly replacing batteries. A great little gadget for improving confidence and precision on the fairway.
