For the past three decades, I have been trying to find a fruitcake that tastes just like this super yummy liquor-drenched fruitcake by Beatrice Bakery. About 30 years ago, I was turned on to a Brandy, Bourbon, and Rum fruitcake when an employer gave me one for Christmas. I've never forgotten it because it was one of the best things I ever tasted. I assumed it would be easy to find, as I always see fruitcakes on the store shelves at Christmastime. Boy, was I ever wrong.Since fruitcake is usually only available around the year-end holidays, I have gone online every year, and Googled "the best liquor fruitcake." I've searched and searched, reading countless reviews, etc. I've probably tried over a dozen different brands, including Jane Parker's, Trappist Abbey, Vermont Country Store, etc., and they just don't cut it. They're not what I remember from all those years ago. I want to taste the liquor because IMO, that's what makes a great fruitcake. It's funny because I'm a complete teetotaler, I don't drink alcohol at all, but I love it in fruitcakes... the more the better.The day before I ordered this "Grandma's Old Fashioned" fruitcake by Beatrice Bakery, I had just received a fruitcake I ordered from another bakery/vendor that boasted "delicious brandy-drenched fruit." What a disappointment, it just tasted like plain store-bought fruitcake sans liquor. I wasn't going to be defeated. I came back online and saw the ad for this fruitcake on Amazon, read several glowing reviews, and knew I had to give it a try. This is exactly what I have been looking for. In fact, the name "Grandma's Old Fashioned," sounded familiar. This might even be the fruitcake I had all those years ago and have been yearning for. It certainly tastes like it.I gave this item 5 stars, but if I could, I'd give it TEN!

I bought this as a "stocking stuffer" for a friend who loves fruitcake. I find it nice that it comes sliced and individually wrapped.It's more convenient than having to wrap and keep a whole fruitcake fresh!

These are very tasty treats. I dropped one star because it doesn't taste the same to me as the plain fruitcake this company makes. Under the chocolate, I taste a lot more raisins than any other fruit. I was hoping that Beatrice was using the same fruitcake recipe for these bars as their regular fruitcake. But these contain no pineapple, for instance, like their regular fruitcake does. So it's misleading as far as the real Beatrice fruitcake being dipped in chocolate. This is not the real thing, but it's tasty enough for what it is and I am enjoying this treat. It's just that it could've been even better.

Outstanding in flavor, texture, and wrapping just the right size! The fruitcake is one of the best I have tasted in years. Every year I try a new brand and order one for me and one for my neighbor. I have been doing this for twenty five years. This is the best That I have tasted. I ordered my neighbor the same fruitcake but a three pounder. I thought I would get this one individually wrapped for myself. I love it as it is so moist and what a rich rum flavor it has. The mixture of fruit is good but wish it had more cherries, although I am particular to cherries! It was great and an easy way to keep the entire cake fresh.

The fruit cake slices was covered to much with chocolate. It over powered the fruit cake. I will not buy again because there is to much chocolate.

My 93 year old mom always says she doesn't need anything for Christmas. About a week before Christmas she asked me to see if there was fruit cake at the grocery store. There was not "real" fruit cake anywhere so I started looking online and found Grandma's fruit cake. It looked exactly like I remembered my mom making many years ago so I ordered immediately with expedited delivery. It arrived on time and I gave mom her Christmas gift. She smiled, giggled and opened the box in a flash. She loves it! I bought the individually wrapped slices and she has a treat everyday. Best gift! Please keep making those timeless, delicious cakes!
