ADVANCED ELEMENTS Double Action Pump w/Pressure Gauge

I purchased this pump and used it this weekend to inflate my Advanced Elements Airfusion Elite kayak. It worked just fine to inflate the air chambers, but the pressure gauge would not read. I specifically bought the model with the gauge because the max pressure on the kayak is fairly low and I was concerned about over-inflation. The kayak was pretty expensive (by my standards) and I didn’t want to accidentally damage it.So I contacted Advanced Elements (866-262-9076) and they informed me that the Boston Valves on the Airfusion Elite are one-way valves so the gauge will not read the pressure without a special adapter with a pin. They are sending me one free of charge, so I’ll give them credit for that.I give the pump 3 stars for inflating my kayak quickly and without much effort, but I really think they should include a note about one-way valves and their effect on the gauge readings. Or better yet, just include pin adapter in the package in the first place.

I bought an open box/customer return of the Advanced Elements AdvancedFrame AE1012 kayak from REI, but it was missing the pump and spring valve adapter. REI stated that the customer returned it because they couldn't figure out how to pump it up. Needless to say, after doing my research, I found the manufacturer branded pump, hoping that it would have the adapter.I'm including pictures of the spring valve adapter on the Advanced Elements AdvancedFrame 1012R kayak, and the other included adapters for anybody who needs it. I'm also including pictures of the inflate and deflate sides, as well as the pressure guage. Hopefully this all helps!

I bought this pump recently for my new Advanced Elements Kayak. It is bright and looks sturdy but when using it today i am quite disappointed.First the pump is hard to pull and push. I don’t know if it is due to its need to pump lots of air at each push. If so, the small inlet/outlet isn’t designed right.Secondly, the gauge along with the pump doesn’t work. Even before connected it reads close to 2PSI. To pump the boat I only need it to go to 2PSI. Can’t rely on this gauge for any good use.Have to return it!

6 month review...This pump delivers exactly as advertised. It's light, durable and quickly inflates my Advanced Elements Convertible tandem kayak. I use it on all trips just incase I get a puncture or need to top off the air. Happy to say, that after 15 trips, neither scenario has occurred. The features: 1. The pressure gauge works well and appears to be accurate. 2. The double pumping action is solid and smooth- no wobbling. 3. The feet keep it stable while pumping. 4. The hose is adequate in length and does not kink, even after coiling it in my kayak bag for weeks. 5. The the size is small enough to fit in my big kayak duffle bag and easily fits in my bow bungees (see pics). However, if If you're into run or bike-yaking, there are smaller options available. But for driving to the put-in or taking long kayaking trips, this pump is great. 6. While I've used it in Houston summer temps (100° F), I've not tried in colder climates. 7) The set of nozzle adapters work great and fit snug. Note, after 15 uses, the cord holding them together snapped. Can easily find another tether cord.. In conclusion, I researched the heck out of pumps and am confident, for all around purposes, this is a solid investment.

Bought this pump along with the AE 1007 kayak for our trip to Hawaii. The pump broke at the joint between the shaft and the T-handle after two weeks use. I wish I had purchased a Bellows Foot Pump instead of this pump.Prior to the handle breaking the pump worked as expected. It inflated the raft quickly, however once you start building pressure then the double action pump is not your friend. You will be working against the pressure on the up stroke. I have used the foot pumps on other rafts for years, and I thought this would be faster. It may be, but there are some trade-offs...I did not like being hunched over the pump to inflate the raft. This gets old really quick. Due to the nature of the double action pump you will need to hold the bottom of the pump with your feet. Given the pump is pressurizing the raft on the up stroke, I believe this is partly why the broke. If you do not pull on both sides of the handle evenly then you will break this pump.Bottom line... I will not be replacing my broken pump with this one. I will be buying the foot pump for inflating the raft.

I bought this model to use with my new advanced elements kayak. When I received this item I promptly used it to pump up my new kayak. advanced elements user manual states 2 psi max do not over pressurise. Kayak seemed to hard. I then got the pressure gauge calibrated only to find it was reading 1.5 psi low this had caused me to over pressurise my new kayak and take it to 3.5 psi!!!!.Not what I would have expected from a pump made by advanced elements and it’s not a cheap item.Maybe you would be better off getting the cheaper pump and buy a decent pressure gauge. Come on advanced elements your supposed to be a quality company!.

Box arrived open, parts missing... when using my other pumps tube, I found air escaping between the handle and piston shaft, so unable to reach more than 2psi...

The air pressure gage does not work?

Good product easy to use and light weight

Good pump to use. It pumps up my yak in seconds only issue is the pressure guage not being very sensitive under 1 psi
