I usually use white but was painting on a linen panel and wanted it to show through. Whilst not the cheapest, Liquitex is fantastic quality and has remained an industry staple for a reason. The consistency was perfect. It spread well, dried quickly and smoothly and gave a great base to work on.

I use this for my paint by numbers canvases.

Nice light grit to it. Great for many crafts, good value too. It's transparent when dry. You can water colour on top of it also. I used it to stick down my images and put it over my background, then was able to add to the background, it's better that way.

I bought this Liquitex clear gesso to prep a canvas that had a paint by numbers design pre-printed on it. This canvas was 20in. wide by 28 in. tall. This was my first time using gesso so I was interested to see the difference it would make. Really pleased, as the acrylic paint did not sink into the canvas but stayed on the surface and gave me an even coat of paint. It also went on really well and there were none of those tiny white speckles that take ages to cover up. You also don't need that much gesso to prep a medium sized canvas like mine. Looks like the 473 ml bottle might prep 20 or so canvases of a similar size to mine. Well worth the money.

Nice and thick with good coverage. Wish they sold the pastel colours over here and the metallic ones. Bought this for around £12, wouldn’t pay more than that though.

Clear & lots of tooth

Utilisé pour peindre à l’huile dans un grand sketchbook. L'idée était de garder la teinte du papier, gris-beige, apparente. Pari réussi. Par contre, ce gesso donne une accroche assez agressive, on a l’impression de peindre sur de la toile émeri. Pour qui charge son pinceau dans un style empâté, ce sera OK, bonne accroche. Pour ceux qui comme moi peignent maigre, avec peu de matière, il est plus laborieux de couvrir : le pinceau glisse moins bien, et surtout, il s’use très vite pour rapidement n’être qu’une touffe de poils hirsutes .
