Another great collection of ice cream recipes
The best ice cream book to come out since the first Salt And Straw. Lots of unusual and delicious recipes that have all been fantastic. I seriously hope they keep making these books!

great recipes, organization and substitions could be way better
I’ve made two recipes from it so far, which have come out AMAZING (freckled mint and chocolate salted peanut butter). That said, the organization of the book, while intriguing, could use improvement. The pages with the base recipes should include a list of recipes/page numbers to make with them. The index is very incomplete for this purpose so you decide you want to make a basic ice cream or gelato and are searching for a recipe to go with the base. As others have noted, the chapter titles are sometimes random. Finally, it would be great to have alternate recipes if you have a different base on hand (okay, you think strawberry should be made into gelato, but maybe I want strawberry custard - give me a few substitution tips).

Delicious, creative ice cream flavors abound
Fantastic ice cream cookbook from one the top ice cream shops in the nation. My daughters and I have been enjoying churning and eating our way through this lovely book. It’s full of unique recipes developed by the Salt and Straw cofounder based on ten classic ice cream flavors with creative twists. Some of our favorites so far include Salted Chocolate-Peanut Butter, Honey Almond Rocky Road, and Salted Sweet Cream with Honeycomb Candy. We can’t wait to make the Carmelized Pineapple Sherbet and Strawberry Tres Leches this summer. Some of the recipes do require several components (cookies, candied nuts, caramels, etc.) which I recommend making ahead of time as many can be stored for up to a week or longer to make it a little easier if you lead a busy lifestyle. Clarkson Potter provided me with a free copy of this book; the opinions are my own.

Ice Cream for Everyone!
This dessert book is fantastic. We already own a few ice cream books that have great recommendations for flavors, but this is the first book that has given us straightforward instructions and ideas that created amazing ice cream on the first attempt. Our favorite so far has been the Birthday Cake & Blackberries and we’re excited to make many more of the recipes. The book contains easy-to-follow instructions, great photos, and amazing flavor combinations and ingredients to try. I fully recommend this if you want to make great ice cream at home. Clarkson Potter provided me with a free copy of this book; the opinions are my own.

Clever flavors, ice cream maker mandatory
This is a niche book, you need an ice cream maker for the recipes, but if you are reading a review of an ice cream cookbook, you probably know that already. The base recipes are clear and the ingredients are readily available. For upgrading and adding flavors to the bases, there are a lot of options to suit most people’s preferences. I started with coffee and was reminded that time is an important part of the process, since the mix needs to be refrigerated for 6+ hours before it churning in an ice cream maker. Reading through the introduction and steps for the recipes makes this clear, especially if you want to add in more mix-ins and components for swirls and crunch or pockets of other surprises in your ice cream. I am glad this cookbook was released in late spring, because there are so many peak summer fruits to plan around. The base recipes are easier than I expected. Some of the fancy upgrades seem like a lot of work but if you are an ice cream lover, this book will resonate. One note, I wish the recipes had weights included, but precision might not be as critical for ice cream as other types of recipes. Clarkson Potter provided me with a free copy of this book; the opinions are my own.
