Woodford model 14 silcock internal rod replacement
Product exactly the correct internal guts for my 34 year old Woodford model 14 outdoor water spigot/silcock. Picture shows worn out old internal rod with the end portion missing besides the newly purchased rod. Installation was just remove and replace.

Perfect Fit, Perfect Fix
Great product that is easy to install to fix my 30 year-old faucet. The hardest part was scraping out the old corded packing, so I could remove the rod. I had screw the handle back on after I removed the packing to wiggle the rod out. There are some great videos out there to show you how to do this if you haven’t made a similar repair. Saves a chunk of money for a plumber. I think it’s good for another thirty years.

Quality Part
This is the original replacement part for my faucets. It is the same quality as the original. This part has a rubber back-flow/ preventer, where my original part(circa 1984) did not. I had repaired several faucets with repair kits and noticed that one had more corrosion in the end shut-off portion. It was still usable; but perhaps weakened and I did not want the end to become detached from the rod. I replaced it with this new part. The other faucet had no corrosion in the end-piece and was not replaced- it was as good as new after all those years. Since I had previously installed the repair kits, I was able to measure the existing rods. There is good documentation on the Woodford website.

Unusable
Product description indicates is 10 inches long but in fact it is 12 inches long. And no you can’t saw it off to make it shorter because both ends have special shape that is essential to use

Be sure to order the correct model!
Before you order understand that the model number (8, 10, 12, etc) is the thickness of the wall you are installing the part not the length of the part itself. I mistakenly ordered my part believing the model number was the length of the part I was replacing. Had a frustrating time dealing w/supplier, but finally got refunded minus the cost of shipping back. I believe the Woodford part is very good though.
