It was nice and easy to install - depending on how thick your mattress is you will run into a few problems - we had to make bigger plates at the head of the bed to keep it from sliding down when we put the bed up and the bottom rail that flips up is too thin to fit over the mattress we had to take the middle bar out, but other than that it was nice and easy to install!

Difficult to put together. Missing the gas springs that were supposed to come with this product. Very disappointed that items are missing considering the price and now need to spend more to get it completed.

I purchased this Murphy because it was advertised as ‘free standing’ not needing to be attached to a wall or floor, ‘great for renters’. This bed MOST DEFINITELY needs to be attached to something unless you want to leave it unused in an upright position. If you try to pull the mattress support down without it being attached, the entire base will come down with the mattress! So yes, false advertising and plan to make holes in your floor and/or wall. It took 2 hours to assemble the bed and 3 hours on the last step to attach the gas ‘springs’.. By the time I figured an alternative method of installing those springs I had contemplated throwing the entire bed over the balcony. Very frustrating to say the least!!! The legs that are supposed to be able to flip over a 10” mattress does NOT flip over a bare (as in no pad, sheets or blanket) 10” mattress! The wooden slats that support the mattress need at least another 1/2” more length as they easily just fall out of their plastic holders that attach to the mattress rail. I mean seriously, how cheap can they possibly get not to give another 1/2”?? I’m sure I’ll be purchasing longer boards in the future, if this bed lasts that long. I have wanted a Murphy bed for quite awhile even ordering one and then canceling and purchasing this one because it was advertised as ‘free standing’, which it definitely is NOT if you intend to actually pull it down away from wall for use. Overall, frustrating and disappointing. 2 stars because it was relatively easy to assemble until that last step. Works ok after putting craters in your floor and/or wall to support it. That old saying ‘you get what you pay for’ fits perfectly.

Works good. Wasn’t able to use freestanding as advertised

I picked this up for a space where I wanted the flexibility of a real queen bed without permanently dedicating the whole room to sleeping space, and this setup makes a lot of sense. The biggest advantage is that this is actually a sturdy frame system, not just a basic hardware kit where you have to figure everything out from scratch. Having the steel platform and wood slat support included adds stability and makes the project feel much more manageable. The frame feels solid once installed. The gas strut setup is super quiet and opening and closing the bed much easier than trying to muscle a heavy mattress up and down manually. I also like that this leaves room to customize the finished look with your own wood panels or cabinetry, so it can match the room instead of looking like a one-size-fits-all piece of furniture. Because this is a DIY install, having some comfort with measuring, anchoring, and building definitely helps. This is more of a project than assembling a normal bed frame, but that’s expected with something like this. Once finished, it’s a really practical setup. You get a real queen sleeping space when needed, then reclaim the room during the day instead of permanently losing the floor space. Overall, a solid option if you want a Murphy bed setup that feels sturdy and customizable rather than a flimsy compromise.

My husband and I live in a small New York City apartment and putting this Murphy bed in our room has made all the difference in terms of space. It is super easy to put together and it is also very easy to assemble. It comes with all the instructions. the actual bedframe is very sturdy. It does not make any sounds or noises when pushing it up against the wall. it is definitely expensive, but I think it is worth the value of your money.

Transforming my home office into a guest room was the goal. The gas spring system makes lifting the mattress surprisingly easy for one person to handle. It tucks away neatly inside the cabinet I made for it, leaving plenty of floor space for my desk during the work week. It feels pretty solid and doesn't really squeak when it's in use. You definitely need a second set of hands for the initial set up though, it's not a one man team project in my opinion. I was pleasantly surprised by how much weight the metal supports without sagging.
