Blade length is 8cm and very sharp.

Will this awl punch holes in tin? I've already purchased another which doesn't.

Like any tool of this nature, it's a question of, in this instance, how thick the tin is. I can safely say that I've used it on thick leather, pilot holing wood and heavy duty plastic without an issue. It's sturdy enough for those and should be okay on tin can thickness for example.
