Why such a short cable
This USB-C hub was purchased for a 2 in 1 computer, due to the lack of USB-A ports. The UPVICH USB-C hub certainly looks the part with a brushed aluminium look and a very tidy arrangement of ports. The USB sockets support version 3.0 of the USB standard and one of them supplies 2.1A output. This provided sufficient power for a second tablet (which I use as a second monitor) and therefore eschewed the requirement of a separate power supply.HDMI and VGA out worked as expected but not concurrently as explained in the provided documentation. Also, HDMI output at 4K resolution does not support 60 frames per second but that is most likely due to lack of bandwidth, which could have been solved by the addition of a Thunderbolt port. This is not a complaint but just a "nice to have" feature and my scoring does not reflect this. There is, however, something which I do take issue with, resulting in loss of marks in my scoring. The gripe I have is the ridiculously short USB-C cable that is attached to the hub. It is barely over 2 inches long. The upshot is that connecting the cable to a USB-C port of the computer resulted in the hub hanging down from the socket in which it is connected to. On my 2 in 1 device, the USB-C sockets are located at the side of the screen and near the top. A short cable will leave the USB hub dangling. Even if it is being used on a device where the USB-C ports are located at the base of the device and not at the top, in my case, it is still inexcusable to provide such a short cable and limiting the hub's placement. The short cable can be stored in the storage compartment on the underside of the hub but that is no consolation - I'd rather have a longer cable than have the cable storage compartment. I really hope this is addressed because everything else about this hub has been well thought out. While this USB hub is not perfect, it is well constructed and certainly works flawlessly. Just a shame about that ridiculously short cable - what were they thinking of?

Overscans VGA output, Dead in 6 months
Good looking compact device with a useful range of connectivity, but it ceased working after 6 months of daily use with VGA, ethernet and wired USB mouse attached.Ethernet port would be more useful if it included power and data lights - as it stands there's no way to know if the ethernet cable you have attached to the device is live. The VGA output overscans very slightly meaning you won't see the edge of your desktop on your monitor, and because everything is misaligned the image is not sharp. This may be simple to correct on a Windows laptop that presents overscan configuration, but on a mac there is no user-friendly way to tweak such settings. I originally thought the overscan was the fault of the mac, but the VGA image via a different model usb-c adapter is perfectly crisp and fits on the monitor fine.

Easy to use, looks good but doesn't last long.
I have enjoyed using this adapter but after 1yr and 10 months it has just stopped working. It is perhaps down to the contortions that the ultra short cable has go through sometimes.

Works great for macs, looks good too, just needs SD slot
The unit it great for connecting to MacBook Pro 2018, is let down by a lack of SD card reader though. As Macbooks have 4 usb slots that you can charge up in any slot, this unit would have been topped off by removing the charging port and adding the SD card reader in its place.Otherwise yes works well, look ok on the desk too.

Great product (just usb-c wire could be longer)
Using for a week only. All ports are working as suppose to. Heat level moderate. Only one cons - that usb-c wire which you plug into your Mac, could be longer. Maybe it is strictly my unique use case problem. As I keep this dock "static" on my table with always plugged in VGA, and network cables which popping out through dedicated hole in the table and are also short (don't like wiring laying all around the table space), hence when I place my mac on the table and picking that short pig-tail docking cable to connect mac - is not always convenient. If you don't give a s**** about tidy workplace environment - the docking does it job perfectly so far.

Great functionality and build quality.
I have a dock for my Surface Laptop but it is too cumbersome to carry around. This little gadget does much the same job at a fraction of the size (and cost). It is sturdily built and functions well. I would advise having a USB C cable and charger plug on hand for more power hungry devices. The USB C pass through from the mains also charges my Surface while at the same time adding the much needed ports. I would highly recommend this, especially if you are trying to keep the contents of your laptop case to a bare minimum.

Turned my laptop into a desktop with a monitor
This does exactly what I bought it for. It’s lightweight and useful for travel and to drop into my pocket and I use it to connect my laptop to a large monitor. It means my computer use has been transformed. I have owned this a few months before writing this review because I wanted to test longevity and I have been very satisfied and indeed, more than satisfied, delighted with this purchase. It does what I bought it for and does it well. I’d definitely recommend it.

Does the job, but poor quality
Using it 1 day, connections seem to work, but the attached USB-C cable's metal sleeve already came off, aluminium feels thin and heats up even after only short use.I hoped this to be the one dongle to take on work trips, but it disappoints so far.
