I wish I'd fitted this 2 years ago
I cannot comment on other cars but in short, this transformed the driveability of my car: Mk2 Audi TTs Roadster Auto-DSG (2009).I had looked at this type of device a few years ago but dismissed it as I agreed with the sceptics about how can this make any difference – how WRONG I was.I went down the route of getting an APR Stage 2 tune with downpipe (but not fuel pump as you only need it for stage 3 and I’ve seen too many failures – make sure yours is checked every service). However, even with a remap and in sport mode, there was always a delay between pressing the pedal and the car moving even if you slammed it down to the stop (this made me hesitant at junctions because you cannot get the revs up like in the manual cars that I’ve had before). The suppressed opening of the throttle is purposely built-in for "normal" drivers to prevent wheel-spin and going into the back of a car at the slightest touch of the accelerator.I put up with this for nearly 2 years until I saw a video that demonstrated the Sprint Booster v3 working on the bench. You could actually see the delay and slow opening of the throttle flap (as it is fly-by-wire controlled rather than direct). Once the device was activated you could see the difference. After doing a bit more research I found out that the accelerator pedal has a mapping table as well as the ECU.I decided to order one. Fitting was simple, however, you need to be careful to ensure that it is held away from the pedal. I may cut a slot in the carpet to hide it better. Before fitting, they recommend that you unlock the car and leave it for 5 minutes, otherwise you risk a Canbus error because the ECU is still doing diags prior to start.I left the device in OFF made and started the car. I pressed the accelerator down fast and noted the delay in the revs rising. I then selected Race level 9 and performed the same test – it was clearly evident that this decreased the delay.I now really enjoy driving the car. The difference is night and day. You do NOT get more power, however, the power is delivered quicker. I now only use the "gearbox sport mode" if I really need to go for it. I’ll be using OFF mode in winter though. If you have the same car as me then go for it – you won’t regret it. You MUST inform your insurer.
