Oahu: Images of the Gathering Place

Beautiful pictures and it seems to cover all the basic tourist spots

I had previously purchased a volume of the collection (Hawaii) on a trip toOahu and I liked a lot: accurate descriptions and excellent pictures, although Iseen the advertisements on the National Geographic guide! Some photos are quiteold, very 80's, but for the editor's own admission are images collectedin the time spent in the archipelago. After having visited other islandsI wanted to complete the collection and so I chose Amazon.com.Ultimately, however, are satisfied, I miss only the volume of Maui that will buy non-I will have just visited. I suggest buying at all.

Beautiful photos! I purchased this after my trip to Hawaii to supplement photos I had taken. It's a lovely book to use on a coffee table.

Visited the Hawaiian Islands this year, and this book is full of photographs that take you right back to the beauty of the islands. It's like a photo album by a professional photographer.

Waikiki.Doch unser Fotograf Douglas Peebles, der auch für seine Luftaufnahmen der anderen Sandwich-Inseln weltbekannt ist, lässt selbst die Honolulu DIE Gerechtigkeit zukommen, die es verdient!Seine Aufnahmen des 'Iolani-Palace, des Punchbowls aka Puowaina Crater oder der Blick vom Ala Moana Tower in Richtung Diamond Head geben dem antiken "Gathering Place" - wie die Insel O'ahu ja auch genannt wird - die volle Bedeutung und Schönheit, mit der die Natur es ausgestattet hat.Die restlichen Inselaufnahmen, die sich entgegen dem Uhrzeigersinn von Waikiki rund um die gesamte Insel bewegen, sind reine Poesie! Und wer beim Anblick der Dole-Ananas-Plantation - schon von der Erde aus gesehen etwas ganz Spezielles - nicht lächeln muss ...Allerdings lässt der geisterhafte Umriss der U.S.S. Arizona - mit dem Memorial für den Angriff auf Pearl Harbour - und seine nach über 70 Jahren immer noch aus ihren Tanks aufsteigenden öltropfen dem Betrachter mehr als nur eine Gänsehaut den Körper hinablaufen!Wer die Hawai'i-Inseln liebt und es vor Sehnsucht oft nicht aushält, macht es wie ich - kauft Euch die wunderbaren Bücher von Douglas Peebles. Ihr werdet es nicht bereuen!
