They successfully took out a well-stripped bolt with ease.Got a stripped bolt on the engine mount. Couldn't get it out with just the star bit. This one worked like a charm.My husband was concerned that it wouldn't work or it wouldn't have enough grip, but it did!We were concerned that the version with bits on both sides wouldn't fit into the socket, so we bought the ones with one side and thought it might be more durable.

I had a completely seized and stripped 8mm hex head plug in my 2JZ block. I needed the plug removed so I could run my water to air oil cooler. Almost immediately on attempting to remove the plug, the internal hex stripped (25 years in the block). I tried EVERYTHING (heat, penetrant, hammers, bigger plugs, wobble hex, torx, double hex, etc.) to no avail.My efforts succeeded in totally mangling the inside of the plug. Checked Amazon for extractors and this had the best overall reviews, especially with heavily seized bolts. I put a tiny bit of lube, hammered in the closest size extractor, and it tightened in the plug which was very seized. Applied about 75-100 lb ft of torque and broke the plug loose. Took literally less than one minute. Tried to use this to extract a frozen brake bleed screw, and while it bit in nicely, it snapped off as soon as I tried to coax it loose with an impact driver. I didn't put a lot of torque on it either, or lay on the trigger, two impacts and it snapped off. So now, I have to try to drill this out, or may have to replace the entire brake caliper.So while the thread design is nice, the metal is not appropriate for this purpose.

It worked for me. My son broke a bolt off trying to tighten an ignition coil on his car after he replaced. At first I didn’t think it would work. I couldn’t drill into the bolt. Found out you need a high quality cobolt drill bit. Bought one of those and it drilled a small hole in the broken bolt. Then found one of these extractors that fit and tapped it in further with a hammer. Viola I was able to turn it easily by hand. I was prepared to use a 1/2” ratchet if needed, but it wasn’t needed. The key is to get a hole started and tap this on so it grabs.

I have purchased multiple Topec Extractor sets since February 25, 2021.
