Well Built and Looks Cool!
The fanxiang Smart M.2 NVMe Enclosure with built in health display is strikes you as something different when your searching for an SSD encloser.I have had a few different faxiang hard drive products in the past and they have always been well built, solid with the encloses having a high-quality machined finish. This is no exception; everything is well made and fits together perfectly. For testing, I purchased a brand new 1TB San Disk Extreme SSD. Installation was simple although the instructions for the heat transfer pads could have been a bit clearer. I opted just to install them over the chips. To put the drive thought its paces I used H2testw and plugged the drive into a Thunder Bolt 4 port on my laptop. The screen displayed a 10Gbps connection and the test run and completed fine with no errors. When looking at the test results attached it is worth noting the bottle neck will be the SSDs speed and not the encloser. When I first tried to evaluate the enclosure, I initial used a different USB C port on my laptop. While the port is specified for 10Gbps transfers I noticed the screen switched between saying 10Gbps and 5 Gbps. While the drive worked it would fail on the H2testw test. I am not sure if this is a drive or laptop related issue but when connected to Thunder Bolt 4 it worked perfectly as expected with no issues. The screen is very insightful, displaying SSD temperature, speed, and total written data. Switching between the pages is easy using the touch button and overall it looks impressive. It is good if you like to stay updated on the health of your SSD although it does not replace a solid backup strategy. If your data is important, back it up!It would have been nice if there was a travel case you could get for it. Only because it looks so nice I do not want it to get damaged in my bag. Other than that it really impressed me.

A well made enclosure.
I've got a few NVME drives in enclosures that I uses to install games and software. It gives me the flexibility of additional storage without having to fit larger drives. This one from Fanxiang has some additional smart features that should make it pretty interesting. In the box you have the enclosure, a short USB-C to A cable, A USB C to C cable, thermal pads, a wrist strap, a small screwdriver and mounting screw, and some documentation. The enclosure is constructed of aluminium with a glass top and small LCD display. It feels good quality and looks quite smart with the visible PCB. The instructions aren't brilliant. There are some very basic steps on how to install the M.2 drive but little explanation on how or where to use the thermal pads. As I am fairly savvy when it comes to PCs, and having installed M.2 drives into a few different enclosures as well as systems it was fairly obvious to me. There is also very little explanation of the display and touch function. In fact the product page contains far more information about installation. The enclosure will accept 2230/2242/2260/2280 sizes. Once installed it's a pretty simple case of connected it to your chosen system and, if it isn't already done, creating a partition and formatting the drive. When connected the display shows information about the drive, its capacity and available space, the current connection speed, temp as well as additional drive specific information. If you press the touch button twice in succession it will toggle auto rotate, 3 times change the language and 5 times will enable right protect. In terms of speed it's more than quick enough.A really nicely made enclosure with an interesting smart display. The supplied cables are a little short and the price is towards the middle upper end of what I would expect to pay. However I haven't seen much else like it for this money.

Works well but limited display use
I feel this is one of those products that will appeal to someone for a very specific reason but overall these cost of this is too high for what it is.As an external drive it’s really good. The thermal pads keeps a drive very cool and there are a bunch of adjustments you can make to do with the size of the drive. I’ve used a standard size for my tests. The speeds are as advertised. And it’s very stable with an up to date readout. Now, that is the unique selling point of this and it works well. It gives accurate and up to date information. Of course, this info and more is available is a huge array of free programs on Windows. It doesn’t make it pointless, not everyone might want these programs or have other reasons to want a screen. It’s quite cool to have. But I can’t say I think it’s worth the huge increase in cost over a standard NVME external enclosure. If you want a screen it’s a good, if expensive, option. If you don’t then it’s not so much. As it’s does what it claims well I’d say I’m happy with it.

Good
Excellent enclosure. All ports are responsive and it works very well. Looks really nice and is small and compact. Great value for money especially when on offer. Works straight out of the box. Does not overheat.
