I ordered this for my parents siemens/Generac 17kw generator that’s about 10 years old. The local company had been charging them $400 for a visual inspection and an oil and filter change, what a rip off!! This has everything except the oil. Installed all that was included and adjusted the valves and it runs perfectly again. I’ll order this again next year when it’s due for service again. Excellent value and it’s all you need at a great price!

I should modify the title a little bit. You still have to go to your local auto parts store and buy a couple of quarts of synthetic oil. But, everything else for your yearly tune-up is included, and at the best price I've found. In fact, the price was so good, I ordered three of these kits, so I'm good to go for the next two years. Included in the maintenance kit is an air filter, an oil filter, two spark plugs, a paper oil filler funnel, a wipe cloth, general instructions, and a stick-on maintenance reminder label for you to enter the date you did the maintenance and the next maintenance due date. The only thing missing from this particular kit is that worthless throw away sparkplug wrench that results in skinned knuckles and new swear words. Omitting it may have lowered the price a bit, and it certainly lowered my blood pressure. The simple solution, if you need one: While you're at the auto parts store buying your synthetic oil, buy a deep well 5/8" socket for your 3/8" drive ratchet. If you don't have a 3/8" drive ratchet, buy one of those, too, and schedule a trip to your nearest Sears store to buy a basic Craftsman socket set. Everyone should have one. Oh, and keep that expensive emergency generator tuned and ready to run with this great yearly maintenance kit from Generac.

Great product. I always keep one in stock as the oil needs to be changed after 200 hrs. My Genset ran 8 days after Hurricane Sandy, lucky I was prepared with a kit. Now I keep an extra air filter and engine oil at home.

This maintenance kit contains everything you need to perform periodic maintenance on your generator (except oil) at a price about one-third of what you would pay to a dealer. I bought several, and they all came with spark plug wrenches and the correct two spark plugs. The included oil filter is the newer extended life version, which is slightly longer than older versions, but fits with no problem. You should be able to follow the included directions if you have even basic DIY skills.On my four year old 16KW generator, the only additional tools required are an oil filter wrench (such as the K-D Tools 3253 End Cap Oil Filter Wrench) and an adjustable wrench to remove an enclosure panel and open the oil drain line. Total time required is about 30 minutes. For less than the cost of one periodic maintenance service call from a professional, I can buy approximately a dozen of these kits.Recently Hurricane Irene knocked out our power for four days, but our generator automatically provided power to our whole house for four days straight. When the power came back on, I immediately performed the maintenance using one of these kits and now we are ready for the next outage. If you own one of these (expensive) stand-by generators, you already know how comforting they are when the power fails. There is a great deal of satisfaction in knowing how to maintain your generator so it will always be ready when needed.

I used to pay a guy to come service my standby generator, he was charging me $250 to do it, so I decided to get the kit myself over the past few years and do it myself. It is super easy and everything you need is in this kit. I did add the cold weather kit last year so I buy the oversized (orange) filters instead of using the one that comes with this kit. Still cheaper to buy this kit than the separate parts so I do that. My husband likes that I am saving us a lot of $$ and I like that this makes it easy for me to do that.
