Replaced the exact same adapter. We tend to beat these up while testing serial interfaces. The one that went bad did so after about 50,000 uses, so I really cannot complain too much. I can say that they work well, take a good beating before failing, and do their job reliably. Basically, the cables are a bit too tight under the strain relief, and that excessive motion, tens of thousands of times, finally wear them out. It is an inexpensive, non-milspeced device, expect it to fail when used well beyond reasonable handling. I purchase this model as needed and will purchase more.
