Works great as described handy for if you don’t have a power adapter for your Google TV
Works great. Works just as described—it powers the Google TV streamer without needing to have a separate power adapter. It just lets you power it through the TV. Use an adhesive to make it perfect behind the TV.

Perfect for Monster Tv Speaker
The media could not be loaded. It perform as advertising say. I plug the google tv to the monster tv speaker and works perfectly. Now i have a perfect cordless smart tv. The mosnter tv do not deliver the power the google tv needs to work properly. This product is perfect. Hope I don’t be disappointed in the future.

DO NOT BUY IF YOU INTEND TO KEEP THE CHROMECAST POWERED WITH THE TV TURNED OFF
ATTENTION: READ MY REVIEW BEFORE BUYING. If you, like me, are looking for a solution to keep your Chromecast ON even when the TV is on standby (OFF), DO NOT BUY IT BECAUSE IT DOES NOT WORK FOR THAT. You must be wondering then what is the purpose of this device if it does not keep the Chromecast powered? In fact, it is useless, because using a USB port on your TV will deliver the same result. The only use for it is if your TV is so old, I mean VERY OLD, like more than 10 years old, in which case if your USB port is bad, it may be useful by equalizing the power supply. I felt cheated that this information was not highlighted. I wasted my money buying this thing.

Works as advertised
An older TV with only a 500ma USB outlet wouldn't consistently power the Chromecast. It would boot up, but often shut off and reboot when trying to load a video, or just randomly while playing when plugged directly into the TV's USB. With this adapter, have had no issues at all.Using a USB tester, this outputs a steady 5.2v and pegs out at about 7 watts. The Chromecast (hd, not the 4k version) averages around 1 watt on standby and 2 watts while playing, but can momentarily spike up to about 3w. Being USB ports on TVs are just for reading media off a flash drive, not charging things, they are usually low power and peak out at about 2.5w.Note without this adapter, you have to use a "power only" A-to-c cable to even try to use the Chromecast. If it detects a data connection, it assumes it's plugged into the TV and won't boot, just showing an error with instructions to plug it into a wall adapter. The adapter doesn't connect the data pins, bypassing the Chromecast "TV power" error, and the battery provides a buffer for the brief moments it needs more than a 0.5a USB outlet can provide. The little remote jacket is a nice extra, fits perfectly and makes the remote a little grippier.

Works!
I read reviews for an earlier Chromecast device and was concerned if this product would perform, but it does. Has held up to several days of long TV viewing including 4K videos. I'm happy being back to just the power cable showing in the family room coming from the TV and not that plus a USB cable for power also.Note one possible drawback, depending on your TV. When the TV is powered off, including when a Quick Start feature is active on your TV, there may be no power to the USB port on the TV this device plugs into. As a result, when you turn on your TV after being off for some time you will need to wait for Android to start up and a wireless connection to be established. I assume as the battery either draws down or this device cuts power to Chromecast when it no longer is supplied power. When using the Google supplied USB power cable, Chromecast was always on, ready to be used to watch programs. For me, not seeing cables is more important than "instant-on".[2021-02-23] I'm now using this connected to a "USB C to USB Adapter, Type C USB OTG Cable, 2 in 1 USB C Cable to USB Female and Charging Port Splitter Adapter" with a USB flash drive inserted into the adapter and the adapter then connected to my Chromecast. This provided more storage for the Chromecast. This Mission USB Power Cable is able to provide power to all three devices (adapter itself, USB drive, Chromecast) without issue, so I am still able to have only the TV's power cable coming out from behind the TV and visible. I would not try this with a hub or even with this adapter if the USB device plugged in requires a lot of power, but a small flash drive is fine.
