Brilliant feeder on the side, well made perfect nuc
Lots of good stuff about this. Reccomend painting with a water based masonry paint and adding sand to the paint for feeder area.I love the clear top enabling me to see the bees and feed with out disturbing them too much and the front door with various options excelent for transporting and making splits..

Really like poly nucs! Great product and fast delivery
Already have a top feeder so thought i would try this one. Perfect for making splits. Lightwieght so great for moving bees to new locations after splitting and good for overwintering small colonies. This one has a queen excluder for feeder access so you dont have to worry about her drowning and it also comes with a wooden float bar.

Great design.
This design is far more versatile than other nuc boxes...Especially with the optional transport meshed roof...I lost several nucs due to overheating in other arrangements...The feeder on the side is a good idea as well.

Some design issues and rather flimsy but has good points too.
I bought one of these poly nucs (July 2014) and here are my first impressions:The nuc is made of very flimsy material. I was painting the hive as recommended and let it fall from my hands onto the pebble driveway, a fall of less than 3 feet onto a soft surface and yet the poly nuc sustained noticeable cracks and dents. It is difficult to imagine it being robust enough to last many years, or indeed, with any knocks it is bound to sustain when in use, whether it would keep its structural integrity at all. I feel it would be best to spend a little more money and to purchase a wooden nuc instead. But, I may yet be convinced…we shall see. I will review this product again following some usage to see if somehow, and with my tender care, the poly nuc survives the next two seasons.UPDATE: So it's now autumn 2015, this poly nuc has survived through several seasons so far and here are my conclusions:The internal feeder is just poorly designed, it is a hassle to clean, it drowns bees even with the supplied wooden float being used and, although I inserted climbing material, ladders etc., it is just is a pain to try and refill. A far better idea would have been a removable internal feeder instead of this inbuilt one.October 2015: The hive body, roof etc. are all reasonably intact, but really do require gentle handling as they can crack and dent with the slightest of force, however, repairs with Polyfilla/Woodfiller are easy and repainting with Dulux WeatherShield gets it protected from UV and rain damage properly. The internal plastic crown board does get very wet during the winter months, I replaced it with canvas then also tried using sheets of newspaper to absorb the condensation, however I do live in a damp climate so this might be a problem with my particular location rather than a fault of the hive itself.Overall, it works as a small hive to make splits, great for transporting colonies as the nuc is lightweight. The nuc keeps the bees snug throughout winter but can have a problem with condensation inside the inner clear plastic cover. As long as one accepts that the internal feeder is not very practical and the construction is rather flimsy and lets the product down by not being a little more sturdy. A more robust poly material and a removable internal feeder and this would resolve all the problems on what could be a very valuable piece of apiary kit. But it is reasonably priced and very easy to transport.
