We love this movie!
This movie is not necessarily appropriate for very young children, but I watched it with my 8 year old. Some language and gestures, but nothing graphic. A good combination of humor and heroism.

Good movie overall, decent kaiju action.... but PG-13? I doubt that.
Finally got around to watching this movie and overall I enjoyed it. I'm not a fan of Dwayne the Rock Johnson much, but he does a decent job in this movie. The main issue with this movie I'll lay out right away is for those who might want to buy this for younger children, as it is rated PG-13. That said, there are several scenes of significance that in my opinion warrant this film having an R rating. Essentially animals and people getting maimed, bloody and sometimes torn apart. So, think twice before you buy it for young ones, but if your children can easily handle such things then go for it.Quick review of the movie and Bluray. The standard non-4K Bluray itself comes with the movie obviously in HD 1080p and a few special features including some behind the scenes features, trailers, deleted scenes and bloopers. Video and Sound of the movie were quite good with no complaints of quality. The movie itself is based on the video game Rampage and is not all that unfaithful to the source which was a very pleasant surprise. Dwayne Johnson plays the main character who has a relationship with the main monster gorilla named George, who he communicates with by sign language. Don't worry that isn't much of a spoiler, it's revealed very early on in the movie. Of course, plenty of action as each kaiju appears and wreaks havoc and guaranteed a big fight towards the end as one would expect. The Good:- Plenty of action, kaiju fighting kaiju, kaiju fighting military and destroying a city.- Dwayne Johnson's character has good interaction especially with the use of sign language and I felt he acted this part of it quite well.- The villains of the story do make you want to hate them for the most part which helps to move story along.- It's a good pizza and beer Saturday afternoon movie to watch. Not too complex but not boring to watch. The Bad:- The villains are almost downright dumb and can be quite wooden.- I found virtually none of the supporting actors engaging at all. You could have taken them out of the movie and it likely wouldn't have harmed the overall product.- Everyone's acting, even Dwayne's, is not going to win any awards. Also, if you're looking for deep meaningful plot, you won't find it here.- The CGI can be very rough looking at times with the blend between real and CGI being just poorly done. Other times, the CGI makes the object or scene look like it belongs there. All this becomes very evident in the last act of the movie as a lot of real objects and people interact with the CGI creatures.Overall I give it a 7 out of 10, pretty enjoyable and if you're a giant monster movie fan, I would certainly add it to my collection.

A fun movie
Rampage is a movie based on an arcade game from back in the 1980s, where you played as creatures destroying the city. The movie is like a combination of Jurrasic Park and Godzilla, with a bit of Independence Day, the rebooted Planet of the Apes, every movie about a company run by evil people, and the Rock being an indestructible hero thrown in.The basic plot is that a company run by Malin Akerman's character is doing genetic experiments on rats in space, to make them essentially invulnerable to anything. The space station blows up, but canisters with the serum being used on the rats end up crashing to earth and infecting a wolf, alligator, and gorilla. The Gorilla, George, is in a habitat run by Dwayne Johnson, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's character who is a primatologist (and because he is 6'5" and 300lbs of muscle, ex-military) who works with George. Naomie Harris plays a scientist who worked for the company on the serum and Jeffrey Dean Morgan is an FBI agent responding to the Rampaging animals. The movie is a good blend of action, comedy, and a bit of drama thrown in. Of course, it makes the Rock into an indestructible hero that can survive getting shot, crashing planes and helicopters and falling buildings, and not only walk away but keep fighting. So, in that way the movie is clearly being tongue in cheek. The Rock also continues to show that he is a decent comedic actor as well as a great action star, and is able to be self-deprecating and at least does not seem to take himself too seriously. For those who get the 4k disc, the movie looks and sounds great in UHD, especially if you have a large screen. All the extras are included on the second, regular, Blu-Ray disc. Those include several behind-the-scenes and making-of featurettes (averaging about 10 minutes in length) then a short gag reel. Probably around an hour, give or take, of extras.Overall, it is a fun action movie that is enjoyable if you are able to suspend your disbelief and not take it extremely seriously. If you are a fan of The Rock's movies, especially the newer ones like San Andreas or Hobbs and Shaw, then you are very likely going to enjoy this. If you are not a big fan of action movies as a whole, especially ones with lots of explosions and monsters, then this is not going to do anything for you.
