Better than the Smokey Joe Premium
Bought a Smokey Joe premium recently. A pal of mine has the 'Go Anywhere', he complained that it didn't cook well, burnt food, so forwarned I got a Smokey Joe Premium. Unpacked and reading the instructions I realised that he was using far too much charcoal, and like a narna, hadn't bothered with the instructions, anyway we were going camping so could compare directly.Good Points for the Smokey Joe over the Go Anywhere: looks good, easy to carry with lid lock, the measuring cup is very handy, stops you using too much charcoal, one easylight bag when opened and broken down will do 2-3 sessions, lid holder is useful, well finished. Not So Good Points for the Smokey Joe over the Go Anywhere: with the lid on the SJ cooks very slowly, this is because the vents are at the side above the coal, cooking one serving sees the coals cool, so you end up cooking with the lid up, which is why I'm guessing they put the lid holder on the SJ; whereas the 'Go Anywhere', with the RIGHT AMOUNT OF COAL (which is not very much charcoal on either barbeque), is happy to cook with the lid on and the coals stay hot, this is because the vents are below the coal; on the Smokey Joe the legs stay put making it hard to pack in the car, again the Go Anywhere is much more easily stowed, and is more portable because of this. Both are good quality, and will easily cook for a family, the SJ has the bigger cooking area. So, in part, thanks to my dippy mate not reading his instructions, I bought the wrong one, the Go Anywhere is the one to get, unless you prefer to cook with the lid up and packing space isn't an issue, the Smokey Joe looks nicer though, not much consolation as I prefer lid down and space is an issue.

Great bbq
We`ve had our GO ANYWHERE bbq for 18 years now, it has been worth every penny. Bought while on holiday in USA. Have taken it on holiday too, beaches, lakes cooked for 6 people its brilliant.Very easy to stow because of shape very controlable using side vents and keeping lid on.We bbq all year round and always cook our steaks on the GO ANYWHERE never use a frying pan or skillet. However after 18 years it is now showing its age(bottom rusting out) so about to order another, i think if i had looked after this one better, i,e not leaving it out in the rain for days on end, it would still be going strong, but after 18 years of regular use its done very well. I highly recommend this little bbq. Patrick Kirk.
