Used to fix chiminea
I barely had my chiminea a year and the top got knocked over and had broken into pieces. I tried this stuff and hoped I could salvage my chiminea. I actually bought two tubes but only needed one. I tried to keep the thickness closer to 1/8" and no more than 1/4" thick. At about 15% into the project I remembered that I needed to wet the cracks before application. So I used a spray bottle with water. I allowed to dry 24 hours and then applied more to areas that showed some small gaps. I waited another 24 hours to dry. I took a green scouring pad (I didnt have sand paper) to smooth out rough edges. I left it out in California sun to further dry aboyt 4 hours. Then went through the curing process of heating it under <200°F for 30 minutes and then >500° for about an hour. Most areas looked good. I had some minimal bubbling. I think maybe I needed to cure longer at <200°. Final step was to paint. I think it turned out pretty good. It saved me from having to buy a new chiminea. We shall see how it holds up. I'll update within the next year.

Effective and Reliable for Fireplace Repairs
The Rutland Fireplace Mortar Cartridge has proven to be an excellent solution for repairing my fireplace. The mortar is easy to apply, adhering well to the existing masonry and creating a strong, durable bond. It fills gaps and cracks effectively, ensuring that the repairs look seamless and hold up to high heat. One of the things I really like about this product is its consistency. The mortar flows smoothly from the cartridge, making it easy to control and apply precisely where needed. The gray color blends well with most fireplace bricks, providing a professional and clean finish. The only minor downside is that it takes a bit of time to cure fully, so you need to plan accordingly to ensure it sets properly before exposing it to high temperatures. However, the wait is worth it for the reliable and long-lasting results it provides.I think that the Rutland fireplace mortar is a top-notch product for anyone needing to perform fireplace repairs. Its ease of use, strong adhesion, and ability to withstand high heat make it a dependable choice.

Works
I had a crack in the rear reflector panel of our wood burning fireplace. We live in the blue ridge mountains and use our green to heat our living room when ever it’s below freezing outside. We burn only well seasoned oak and hickory so the fire get pretty hot and this is the second time in three years the panel has cracked. Last time we replaced the panel. This time I used this product as directed to patch the crack which at its wides was about a quarter inch in width and ran from the top to the bottom of the panel. I used a flexible spackle knife to cut it in and then waited 24 hrs for the primary cure. Then made a small fire and kept it burning for 12 hrs. I let them fireplace “sit” for another 24 hrs and then did a normal burn. 15 fires later and the patch has held perfect with no spalls or cracks.Update. After many fires the patch has held well. Follow the curing instructions and this stuff works as advertised.

Followed directions, still the mortar had bubbles
Using a caughing gun, it went easily into the cracks. Easy to smooth out using wet finger. Followed instruction if crack was larger than 1/8". Applied caugh three times, waiting 24 hours between applications. Placed a small elec oil heater in the firebox and let run for 3 days at 160 degrees. Then followed directions to "cure" caugh by small fire, medium fire and larger fire. The caugh bubbled anyways. As long as it keeps from cracking and falling apart, then I'm happy. We shall see after the winter fires are over.

Very durable firebrick cement
I bought this firebrick mortar to repair couple broken firebricks in my fireplace. After applying water to both surfaces of firebrick I've applied mortar and let it dy for 24hrs. After letting It dry I've carefully installed firebrick back in the stove and made fire.Firebrick hasn't cracked in the areas of repair. I still have most of mortar left for future repairs and this is great deal compared to buying new firebrick.
