The First, Second and Third letters of St. John and the Revelation to John (Ignatius Catholic Study Bible)

Bought these for our Bible study group and the questions are so great to go over and really help to build discussion.

i read a lot of scott hahn so i decided to read his notes on the new testament and genesis...i read them, i love them!!!each front of one has the author - not who he was, but everybody he could be! then he goes on to explain all the main couldbes of the author, and why most picked the author they picked... and then the church's answer to it...he explains the layout of the book, who it was written to/for, and why...in the notes, at the bottom of each page of the book, the notes are abundant...some notes, because if you put in every note on every thing you end up with...the catechism, lol! no seriously the notes are worth reading, especially "contents and unity", "living tradition", "analogy of faith", topical essays, word studies, and charts...i like curtis mitch, too...but the intro to the gospels, etc, arent in the individual books, and the study questions for understanding and for application arent in the new testament...im looking forward to the old testament coming out individually and the old testament as whole...also some (i dont know how many or how to order them) comes in large, easy to read format! great for stroke, lol!

I have used a couple of different study guides and Bibles in the past, and the Ignatius Study Bible is by far the most user friendly.The notes examine the Scripture passages on several different levels that aid understanding from both spiritual and historical perspectives. The notes are concise, yet very informative, and they connect the dots between the Old and New Testaments and between Scripture and Church teaching. The design of the book itself is also a plus. Unlike others that are bulky and hard to highlight or write in, the Ignatius version lies flat and stays open allowing one to easily highlight and make notations as well as refer to while using other sources such as one might do in a Bible study class. While I am still a fan of the Navarre Bible, Ignatius will now be my first choice.

My Bible study group is glad to have discovered the Ignatius series. The footnotes are tremendous, as they cover the big picture as well as answer the little questions that come up. And don't skip the introductory essays.

It's a work book

I have read & used all of the paperback books of the New Testament as well as Genesis from the Hebrew Scriptures. I find them so easy to read & use. The comentary is always very interesting & detailed. I have become so much better at teaching Sunday School Bible studies for children in my parish. I can't say how much I appreciate the ease of use of this series & the children I teach have no problem understanding the wonderful commentary by Scott Hahn & all those who worked on this project. Thanks to all of you.

The book is in a very good format with scripture text above and commentary on lower half of same page. Scott Hahn writes excellent explanations and insights that are clear and comprehensible. There are well written study questions that re-enforce key points. I highly recommend this for a commentary on the writings of John. Scripture text and commentaries both have Nihil obstat and Imprimatur officially declaring the text is free of doctrinal or moral error

Wonderful combination of the scripture and the study aids! I'm on my third book from this Ignatius Catholic series and I can't recommend them highly enough. I like having the scripture at the top of each page and the comments, explanations, and additional information at the bottom of each page. The studies are easy to use and I don't need to carry both it and my Bible when I'm traveling and working on my Bible Study.A+++!

just doing the study now. I have use Scott Hauns study book and have the new testament bible study book.. Love it.
