iHome iAV5 Color Changing Bluetooth Rechargeable Speaker for Amazon Echo Dot

I love this device. It enables my Alexa to be portable, give it some good color, and have better sound. I love having my Echo dot around with me anywhere in the house without having to lug around the chords! I was so used to only having one room with Alexa in it, and even planned to get more echo dots to solve the issue. Now, I am able to take this around wherever I go, and listen to music, ask for the weather, add things to my shopping list, start timers, ect. All without cords! The quality of the sound is pretty good, and is definitely feels “fuller” than the Echo Dot by itself. I do listen to music a lot and it definitely does its job well. The sound fills up entire rooms, and gives off a good amount of base for the size. The colors cycles are great, and livens up any corner you put it in! It provides a good amount of light, so you can still see it clearly, even in direct sunlight. The colors are very vibrant and enjoyable. I’m also glad to see you can turn the lights off, without the entire device turning off. They do tend to get bright at night. I only small have one problem with it, which is the Echo sometimes will not respond to prompts while it’s playing music at a loud volume. The speaker portion must be to loud for the Mic array on the Echo Dot. Other than that, this device is definitely a great addition to any echo dot, and definitely worth your money! I would highly recommend to anyone who wants more “oomph” to their music, a portable Echo Dot, and an amazing fun set of colors equipped on their Alexa!

I bought this product to enhance my Amazon Echos 2nd Gen, when I plugged my echos in and connected them, they seems to work great, the iHome lights operated fine and speaker was sounding pretty good... that only lasted 1hr... I then plugged them in a power outlet and waited for them to fully charge... the light that displays the charge (red one) never turns to green even after 48hrs. I called support and they basically said that their product does not work like others, that light will never turn green, its stays red. That seems silly since any other product that I have owned has a change of light when its fully charged... but OK, neither here nor there, they explained that you have to press the top button so it could tell you that "The Battery charge is excellent" , I then disconnected the device and left it there without use, only the echo was on top and no one was using it to hear music or anything, 4hrs later when I tried to use it, it was out of batteries... so I guess the 8hrs advertised is basically not true. Contacting customer service is the worse, they basically told me that 8hrs is not really what you could get out of the device and to just return it if I was unsatisfied. I did, I exchanged them for two new ones. Unfortunately both new ones are the same... the red light never turns green as you would expect, and they only last around 5hrs without use...... what a waste of money. If you want something to enhance your 2nd Gen Echo Dot, dont count on these iHome devices.

With a hearing problem I was looking for an additional speaker for my echo dot. Easy set up, nice colors, easy Bluetooth connectivity. Just wish I could turn it up a little bit more.

The sound is not great at all NO CORD....REALLY!! another 12 bucks! I do like color change ,but that's about it NOT IMPRESSED The above review is my mistake!! I had it plugged in wrong,it wasnt paired when I thought it was NOW I LOVE it!!!! The sound is great,fits on my desk,doesnt take up much space sounds good ,love the color change ,now I can tune out! Id recommend to anyone

At 29.99 this was a good value. The battery lasts a good, but not great, amount of time. Maybe 5 hours, plus or minus. The colors are changeable and fun. The sound is not as rich as I thought it would be. The biggest problem is that the speaker will reboot and /or shut down itself. Worse, sometimes it will stream music with a little break, almost like a skip on vinyl, about every 10 seconds. I have mixed feelings about recommending it.

I ordered this Dec 31st received in January.... this is only March and it quit working... was going to get another but I’m glad I didn’t. For the price of it and for it not to be working only after having it maybe 2 months.. wow .. and can’t return it .this was a gift from my daughter.. very very disappointed.

Plug in worked but found that sound was worse than if it wasn't plugged in at all. I found no instructions as to how to make colors change. Most mundane Alexa device ever.

Okay sound, nothing spectacular. Lights were nifty. Bluetooth worked very well. Battery life? I had this device wall-powered for a few days--with little time off charge on battery--before I started hearing the voice. This voice said something to the effect of, "battery power too low please charge." The device then powered off. After some troubleshooting I tossed it aside and hooked my Echo Input back up to the $5.00 set of PC speakers I'd bought at a trade show years ago. I suddenly heard the phrase "don't buy from iHome again" in the same voice. I will indeed follow that advice. This was the second iHome product I'd purchased. The first--a nice clock/speaker designed to fit the ECHO Input--stopped selling on Amazon not long after my purchase. It's been going strong, happy with it. When I wanted a unit for my other ECHO input device I found this product with a few comments that lead me to think it could be adapter to the Input. Not really, but I'm okay with ugly. I'm even okay with products being discontinued, fact of life. I'm not okay with 'don't work.'
