Handy Goodness
Quaker Oat so Simple – CUPPA PORRIDGE in ORIGINAL FlavourThey say that everyone should start their day with Breakfast, and it is the important meal of the day. None more so in wintertime when our bodies are busy trying to counteract the cold, damp weather.• The pack is a box of 6 cartons, each of which contains 5 x 44.8gr sachets of this Cuppa Porridge cereal. A total of 30 sachets are what you get.• It is more than easy to make. All you need is a mug (wider is better), a spoon and access to a kettle to boil water, OR one of those devices that dispenses boiling water.• Open the sachet (no scissors needed as the sachet sides are notched). Empty the contents of the sachet into your mug, add boiling water to cover the oats (approx 100ml). Stir immediately for around 20 seconds continuously, until you have a smooth paste. Leave to stand for 1 minute. Stir again and add more hot water, until you have the consistency of porridge that you like (poss about 50ml). Breakfast is now ready! At time of writing this Review, the RRP is £16.50 for the box containing 30 x 44.8gr sachets of Instant Porridge. At 55 pence a sachet, I think it is worth it for the convenience. Obviously it is more expensive than buying a big box of Porridge Oats, but I think these sachets are worth it for the convenience. This Cuppa Porridge is really useful, especially for those rushing to get to work who really do not have time for breakfast. Just needing boiling water, a mug and a spoon, this is a breakfast easily eaten at work without causing any food odour to upset colleagues.

Tasty and easy; but expensive and involves lots of packaging
This is a simple, tasty, instant porridge that comes in convenient, individual portion sachets which are easy to make up. The product itself consists of oats, cream powder, and skimmed milk powder. To make this up you tip the contents of the sachet into a mug, add 100ml of boiling water, stir for a few seconds, leave it to rest for a minute, and then stir again. Getting to 100ml might seem a bit of a fiddle on the go, but this also equates to roughly when the porridge is just covered with water. I've never bothered measuring water for this, I go for the 'just covered' method and it turns out perfectly. The porridge has a nice, creamy flavour, and I like that this is a more textured affair than some other instant oat cereals such as Ready Brek. It's perfectly nice plain, and as it is plain can be customised to taste. Each sachet makes up to around a quarter of a pint of porridge (my Emma Bridgewater half pint mugs are half full!).Although this is a convenient, wholesome product, I'm not so keen on the price point - which is quite high for 30 portions of cereal - or the large amount of packaging involved.

Quick and tasty
WELL! I like porage of a morning - its bulky and quick and surprisingly tasty even if you don't add sugar (ugh!) or salt (approved tradition). With my usual rolled oats its about a minute mashing the oats into milk followed by two and a half minutes in the microwave.THECUPPA PORRIDGE IS QUICKER!! Empty the sachet (44.8gm) into aa cup or my wee bowl. Boil the water for your tea and chuck about 100ml in the cup/ bowl (cover the oats) stir!! 20 seconds of stirring steadily will get you a smoothish paste, then set aside for a minute while you pour the tea.BANG! all ready to eat. Tasty? Aye, as tasty as my usual rolled oats ….the textures acceptable, not creamy but certainly as good as milky oats.Satisfying? Yes definitely. With oats recommended for cholesterol control porage is a popular start to the day....beware there are natural sugars here 167 cals per sachet, with 26gm carbohydrates of which 5.2 are sugars. Fibres only 2.6g per sachet which given it starts as a powder doesn't surprise me.But its quick, tasty, satisfying and certainly delivers all it promises. The box as advertised has 6 boxes of 5 sachets each, about a months worth of braw breakfast.I liked it
