Neat power solution
This is a nicely proportioned and well made extension with six main sockets and two usb sockets which are useful for charging various items from mp3s, phones and cameras etc. The bright blue led that tells you it's on could distract you if you could see it so I agree with other reviewers who mentioned this. I have mine behind a tv unit so it doesn't bother me. The cable is a useful 1 metre long so not a lot of surplus cable to try to hide. There is only one drawback to this otherwise excellent unit and that is that the adaptor I have for my router has the cable at the top. As these sockets are upside down and normally an advantage where plugs are concerned, I have to use the extension on its side as it won't stand upright with this adaptor in. However, that's not the fault of the unit. Maybe adaptors should all be standardised. Overall, I can recommend this compact unit if you don't like seeing a long flat trailing socket or you don't have much room.

Bit too bright, but incredibly functional
Sirs very firmly on the floor and doesn't topple over from side to side with plugs attached or otherwise. The blue led light is like a homing beacon for a spaceship and I find far too bright if you need a room with complete darkness to sleep. The 2 usb ports and 6 plus sockets are so useful, with the 3 pin plug holes pointing downwards, so usbs inserted into larger plugs don't get blocked by the floor. Great investment, will definitely be buying more to replace the older extensions I have in the house.

Good build quality, as I've come to expect from Masterplug - you get what you pay for, why risk it with cheapo electrical stuff?
As with all Masterplug kit, good build quality shines through. They do tend to cost a little more than the unknown brand alternatives but you get what you pay for I guess. In my case, I only paid £12.50 as I went through Amazon Warehouse and got one with a dented box corner but otherwise as new.I already have a six socket version of this under my desk, but needed something smaller for my other desk to power three printers (general purpose, label and photo) and my coffee machine. The surge protection function incorporates a safety thermal cut out (to protect against temperature increase or fire due to component degradation from repeated low surges) and an indicator light to show it's all working properly. The USB charging ports (2.1A output shared across the two by the way) are not something I'll use much, but for the money they are good value-adds.

Good, until it isn't!
Purchased this in 2017 and have never had an issue, until today! Whilst charging batteries for my camera via the USB ports on the extension I noticed the charging indicator was flashing on the battery charger, I presumed this to be a fault of the battery charger as the lights should remain solid, I then charged another device... Same issue, then I noticed that the extension unit was scolding hot to the touch! There was a slight burning smell coming from inside as well, the extension was never overloaded and had an easy life! It was only ever used to charge items such as laptops and other electronics so was never under any constant strain, lost faith in this now, but for the 5 years I've owned it this has been the only issue.

Very useful compact product.
I ordered this from Bamford Trading and as a Prime client it arrived next day. The product feels sturdy and is easy to use.i did note that the power to the USB sockets is shared, but that isn't a problem for me.My only criticism is with the manufacturers of the plugs that take their cables and transformers out the "earth pin" side who obviously haven't studied the conventions in use in the UK.I am making a 2 inch high plinth to raise the unit up to take into account of the overhang some of my plugs have. Now there's a marketing opportunity! As far as Banford Trading goes, good product and good service. Thank you.

Great little power strip for neatness.
I bought this to give peace of mind to a Duronic power strip that pops everytime I plug stuff in. With an expensive PC and Monitor that was a cannot continue situation. I try when I can to buy Masterplug as they are generally quite well built. No change here. I can now run off the important equipment and feel certain it is protected. My only issue with the device is the light for Power and Protect are extremely bright, a bit of diffuser tape could help.

Ain't so good.
Arrived with a grey / black mark on it, probably from the factory but it makes it look tacky. Also after a week or two of use it started to do some odd things. The big one is that I have two studio monitor speakers that have a 20 minute standby feature if no sound passes through them. When plugged into this they go into standby but immediately come back out of standby, like the electronics are passing through sound. I tested by plugging one speaker into this, and the other into a belkin unit I purchased from Amazon a few months earlier.Belkin - fine, goes into standby and stays in standby until sound comes out.Masterplug - goes into standby but immediately wakes it again.Had to return it as the constant sound of speakers turning on and off at night (it makes an audible click every time) made it really annoying to get to sleep.
