Oh goodness, I love my new bike
I’ve had my bike for 4 years now, riding almost every day while the weather allows. I love the thing, but I’ve ridden so much and made enough upgrades to realize that my stock wheels are the weak point of my setup. I’d love carbon wheels, but a decent aluminum set still costs upwards of $600.Well, go tubeless and save whole bunch of weight, right? Nope, my Rene Hearse/Compass Snoqualmie Pass tires are notoriously hard to setup tubeless. I could go tubeless with new tires, but I wanted to see if the was a workaround.Well, I faced a choice. New wheels, or try to set my tires up tubeless. I’ve saved weight everywhere else, so my wheels would had to be the next step.I finally stumbled across TPU tubes recently and had to see what they were all about. I ordered a set, and I’m in complete awe. They weigh about the same as tubeless, but don’t require all the cleaning. All the videos I’ve seen online have people basically using them as low-volume backups for total tubeless failures. I wanted them as a last-ditch effort to save weight.I ordered a set, and they came overnight. I opened the package, but was bummed to find a single tube box. It was a really tiny box, but I ordered two. After opening the box to see the single tube that did arrive, I saw that there were two tubes in that teeny box the whole time! I’ve replaced hundreds of tubes, but never fathomed a fancy balloon as a tube option. With the 100 or so grams removed from each wheel, my bike is a completely new beast. I essentially saved the weight equvalent of going from aluminum to carbon wheels just by switching tubes. To add, they make the bike extremely “pingy” and lively.Butyl tubes are thick enough to add a very significant damping effect. Buytl tubes feel like riding with garden hose in my wheels now, the TPU makes my wheels sound and bounce like a basketball now. They’re so light that my brake rotors “sing” in rock gardens; there’s not enough mass in the tires to soak it all up.To summarize, buy these.

Much better than standard butyl tubes
They hold air better than the butyl tubes I replaced. Easy to install and no flats yet. These are supposed to be more resistant to pinch flats than standard tubes.I noticed an increase in about .5 mph at the same average power just swapping from standard tubes. That’s the absolute best performance per dollar upgrade you’re going to get.

Don’t buy this junk
Junk. Purchased these to have an emergency tube. When it came time to use it, there was a rip in the valve core seat. I checked the other inner tube in the box, and it was the same way. It’s too late for a refund, so I wasted time and money on this product. They are not the same as a quality TPU tube. They are very this and rip as easy as a plastic sandwich bag.

Good product so far...
I've been using these tubes for a few weeks and have had some good luck with them. I have found that you do have to be a little more mindful about how you are installing them as the reduced weight nature and different material means less durability. I preinflate them just enough to old the shape and get it into the tire.. they can be overinflated outside the tire. The stored size is pretty amazing, but I do feel you have to be aware that they aren't up against sharp or pokey things. At 1/4 the weight of of a standard rubber tube, its great to be able to knock off almost a pound of rotational weight on the mtb. I mtb in lower Michigan and is probably mostly considered cross country.

Slow leak solution?
These seem like good quality but had a slow leak in both tubes. I removed the valve core and noticed that they did not have teflon tape or loctite on the threads which allowed the core to work loose and leak air. Added teflon tape to valve core and re-threaded it in. I am hopeful this will eliminate the slow air leak.

At this price give it a try
I've always been interested in trying TPU inner tubes but the price for the name brands turned me away. This 4 pack brings the price close to standard butyl tubes so why not give it a try. I just installed my set and only took 1 ride so far. I'm not 100% sure, but my initial feeling is they are just a tad less supple than latex tubes. I think they are just as fast as latex, maybe a tad faster due to weight savings, but we'd be splitting hairs. Obviously durability is yet to be seen. I'm assuming that they will be as puncture resistant or better that my latex tubes (which have been exceptional). So far totally happy. The other nice thing is the 4 pack gives you spare tubes to carry with you. They are so compact is size and also save you anywhere from 30gr to 80gr lugging around the spare tube. Looks like it comes with patches for repair, but no instructions for application.Update 7/1/24: ALERT.....I got a flat on the 3rd ride. A steel wire penetrated my tire sidewall. This probably would flat any tube so I have no problem with that. The problem is it appears that TPU tubes deflate so quickly by the time you come to a stop you've been riding for several meters with zero psi. That caused me to have 3 pairs of snake bite plus the 1 wire puncture. So 1 tube is toast after getting a flat. This worries me if I got a second flat on the same ride. Would I have enough patches to repair a tube to get home? Still 5 stars, but need to know the downside and be prepared.Update 8/4/24: I had another flat, again I don't think regular tubes would have survived. I tried patching with the supplied patch. That only held up for 6 days. I tried a glue fix. I couldn't order the patch kits because they wouldn't ship to Hawaii. I used my first TPU tube that was going to get tossed. Cut a small piece to use as the patch. For glue I used Loctite Fabric, Vinyl and Plastic glue. This worked fine and holding up for 2 weeks now. I took the tube out to inspect and looks like the patch is going to hold for a long time. The glue patch kits for TPU Should work fine if you can get hold of them.Still 5 stars for me because of the improved ride and performance. I can live with occasional flats because now I'm confident these can be patched reliably.
