Can never go wrong with Blackhawk
As with all Blackhawk products, you will always get what you pay for. I purchased this holder for my 9mm M&P shield 7/8 Rd magazines. They fit almost as if they were custom made for these specific mags. Retention and concealability are both on point. Blackhawk is always a brand you can expect the best from.

Not for CCW or EDC
Upside: carbon fiber applique looks cool (not carbon fiber construction btw). The belt clip is under no circumstances ever coming off my belt accidentally, very positive attachment there. Kind of a hassle really to wrestle it off the belt. My Shield 9mm single stack mags seem to fit nicely and are held by a spring clip. Probably best application is for some competition speed shooting situation.Downside: my mag hit the deck in public places twice just from walking around and getting in and out of my vehicle in spite of a good snug fit... not good for concealed carry. I was mortified. Also it sticks out way far from my belt, unnecessarily far. Not streamlined at all. Not good for concealed carry at all. Will replace with soft shell/velcro style.

Not for concealed carry
Nice magazine carrier, but it sticks out like a colostomy bag. I purchased this for low profile plain clothes law enforcement duties and it sticks out way too far off the body to conceal even a single stack magazine. For open carry, it's perfect, but don't bother with it if it's for concealed carry.

Serves it purpose well and conceals great...
Perfectly fits both my G19 and .40 M&P Shield mags (not at the same time of course). The G19 mag is a tight squeeze (as said in other reviews) but it fits none the less and the M&P Shield mag does have a slight wiggle but does not fall out when upended. Definitely buying another. Opening size is approx 1 3/8" x 5/8" but "flexes" to about 3/4" when the internal mechanism is pressed. Attached a picture with the M&P mag in it (has the Pierce Grip also available on Amazon http://amzn.com/B00HB1SYCC)

Very Good Product, Excellent Blackhawk Customer Service
I ordered 3 of these mag cases and promptly received them. Unfortunately two of them are different than the third. Two of them have different packaging and the retention springs are so weak they don't hold the magazines inside when inverted. The third one which looks identical holds double stack magazines very well. I called Blackhawk to find out if the weak springs can be bent to make for a snug fit. A very friendly representative told me they shouldn't require the springs be bent. He said he would send replacements to me which I appreciate. I will return the weak springed ones to Blackhawk. The unusual thing about the two "faulty" cases is a white sticker over a portion of the packaging which makes the model number and other information unreadable. As far as the serviceable mag case, it is a very good product. It is sturdy and well made. It holds the magazine very well even when inverted. This case would be very useful for carrying on the range or in the field. It is fairly thick so would not be ideal for concealed carry. The belt "loop" is molded plastic. It is very stiff but open at the bottom, so with some effort it can be placed or removed from a belt without removing it. The loop will accommodate up to a 2" wide belt.

Junk
Don't waste your money. This holder sticks out further then my firearm. Extremely hard to insert mags and and twice as hard to get it out. Almost have to jerk it out.For those of you who have this mag holder and can't return it or just want to make it work, there are two screws on the top on the unit. I removed these screws and a plastic piece came out. It looks like a leaf spring. Kinda a 1" wide curved piece. I took a heat gun and make that curved piece more straight than curved. I keep adjusting it with the heat gun till it had the rught amount of retention that I felt was perfect. Now my mags slide in and out perfect. Couldn't find a fix for how moch it proudest from your belt. You shouldn't have to do this to a new carrier but if you can't return it or stuck with it for whatever reason it's better than putting it a draw.

You may get a good one, or you may not...retention spring strength varies significantly.
I purchased one of these mag holders previously and it was great in that it securely held a fully loaded SD9VE mag firmly in place. However, the second one I ordered had a much weaker retention spring and when I inserted a fully loaded mag into it and simply turned it over, the mag fell out as easy as could be. The retention spring on the second mag holder was noticeably weaker to the touch and incapable of retaining a loaded mag while inverted. I contacted the Seller and they did nothing to address or remedy the situation. All they did was refer me to Amazon Customer Service for a resolution. It is obvious that the strength of the retention spring has changed significantly and therefore, just having Amazon send me a replacement will be useless because I won't know if I am going to receive a good one, or a bad one and the Seller does not appear to even care. I guess I should have been more vigilant in reading the negative reviews because this complaint has been mentioned there quite a few times. Sorry Blackhawk, but you are now on my "Do Not Buy" list.

Well built if a little bulky
Another nice product from BLACKHAWK! Fits my mag easily with enough tension to keep it from popping out on it's own. Belt clip is plenty strong but flexible enough that you don't feel like you're going to break it. The single clip is quite long to accommodate wide belts but that also means it can rotate on you. The retention system is just a simple, flexible plastic tongue that wedges the magazine in. This system also adds bulk, however, so it's going to stick out a bit from you hip. For the price though it is a great option to ballistic nylon pouches. It is sturdy and will not close on you so you can replace magazines 1 handed with ease. The belt clip is removable and can be attached to other BLACKHAWK! carry systems.
